Ok so my base model eclipse doesnt have a tach in it. I was wondering if i could install one where the original one should have been? Like one from a GS or something? Any help would be appreciated.

no, its a 2GNT. My friend has a 96 Eclipse with no tach, trunk release, or rear window defogger. The RS is actually not the lowest model of the eclipse, there was a "base" model. If you were to run the vin number on that car, it would come back simply as a 96 Eclipse.

Must just be a pre 97 thing. I got a base (believe me) 97 Talon and I got the tach, defogger and AC. No stereo, but speakers. :rolleyes

the only year there was a base (anything below rs) was 96. its normal for it not to have a tach and all the other stuff you mentioned. they have clusters on ebay for cheap if you look. but im not too sure if it would work. i would think that all the right sensors would be there, but who knows

just go to the dealer, buy the tach, plug it into the cluster, done.

also one of the older 95/96 model eclipses that were one of the lower models didn't come with a spoiler...if im not mistaken.

yah some models didnt come with no spoiler, thats no biggie. but no tach, i wanna see pics. Is there just a hole where the tach would be or what?

mine didnt come with a spoiler and i am glad. but i have seen the no tach thing before, its just blank. the circle where it should be is still there, but its just plastic, looks kinda funny. and you have speakers but no radio??? thats wierd too, but i guess its easy just to add a headunit instead of all the speakers too.

my buddy has a 96 s10 manual tranny with no tach. it was originally supposed to be an auto but they changed their mind during manufacturing. his speedo is huge to take up the space that they would have used. i would have assumed that dsm would have looked something like that but i guess not. oh well. *shrug*

its just a black circle where the tach would be. they have plenty on ebay, dont go to the dealer its way too much

I beleive I looked at my friends ECU and he did have a tach wire, despite their being no stock tach.

yeah, some base models came with no tach, rear defroster, power options werent available, and i believe i read somewhere that they didnt come with a radio...not sure. as far as chevy's go...they are notrious for not including a tach with a manual tranny. our 88 chevy half ton truck is a 5-speed but no tach...only a dummy shifter. my g/f's 2002 calivere....no tach...just a dummy shifter. i dont really understand putting a tach in an auto, but not a manual...dosent make much sense to me.
