fabric adhesive, 3M makes a good one for that, you can find it at any autoparts store

3M doesn't work too well, i used it on mine. I redid the headliner in black, and when it gets hot the whole thing sags. I ordered some high temp adhesive from www.selectproducts.com it withstands up to 225 degrees, i'll let you know how it works, i'm doing it tomorrow. Check out that site tho, they have alot of cool stuff, especially if you're into custom audio installs :thumbsup

u're either not using the RIGHT can of 3M adhesive spray or you didnt put enough on (the whole can) and let it sit on the headliner for 5 minutes before putting ur new material on it.

anyways.. yea i think you need to do what i did and actually replace the existing headliner material. what happens is that when it gets old the foam backing degrades and you're left with this fine powder. when you spray more glue in, all you're doing is gluing the powder so eventually it falls again. mike's writeup is mostly for changing the color/design on your existing headliner not replacing a messed up one. mine was like yours. or actually a lot worse. mine was sagging so bad it'd rest on my head when i drove.

just follow mikes writeup but instead of just glueing some new sheets over your existing material you'll need to pull of the old one. just be careful not to bend the cardboard backing. then you need to get rid of all the bits of old foam that'll be left stuck on the backing. you need it clean so the new headliner material will bond correctly. i just used a brush to get all of it off. my backing was brownish/blackish when it was covered with the old bits of foam/dust crap and turned yellow after i finished cleaning it off.

also you're going to have to buy actual headliner material (the one w/ the 1/4" foam backing). with mike's writeup you're just covering the existing material so it's no problem but in your case you're pulling off the old one so you need to replace it with actual headiner material. buy about 2 yards. 1.5 should be enough but most places only sell by the yard. if you're planning on changing colors, keep in mind that no one's found an easy way to redo the visors as of yet so you're either gonna hafta leave them the stock color or just leave them off completely. i just left them off as well as the 'oh shit' handle. looks really clean imo.

i redid mine the kaptain's way in black and it turned out great...i do have some creases in it though....not that bad.....but it does take the entire can to do it....u might be having the powder problem...either find a headliner in good shape in a junk yard or use 2 cans of adheisave <------another kentucky spellin moment......cost me 11 dollars to redo mine........i still cant belive 11 dollars.....thanks kaptian:thumbsup

no prob im about to redo mine with a different new white/black/red design pattern on some bed sheets from wal-mart...it'll look really neat

hook up a nail gun on a air compressor and shoot nails in your headliner through the roof, that shit will hold up for a looooong tiiiimeeee....j/k

For those of you who might be wondering, I did get it fixed very nicely. I used 3M Spray Adhesive, but not the stuff in the black can. That's the general purpose stuff that I tried the first time with no success. Auto parts stores sell 3m spray adhesive for general automotive purposes and also high strength spray adhesive. I used the general stuff - big can for $12. Worked nicely (so far).
