I need to know if anyone has any documentation on how moonroof works, guts and all. Any picture, faxes, whatever would help greatly. I have a 95 Eclipse that I have to replace the cables on and I have no clue to what I would get myself into if I start this project.

Ok. I bought the cables today from Satan for 60 bucks and they said they would charge a min. of 5 hours @ like 75 bucks an hr. to do this. I talked to a mechanic and basically told me what to do and what to look for. I think the hardest thing is alinging the cables to close the moon roof properly to seal. This may be the reason some moonroofs airleak @ high speeds....the cables are streched......it may be a reason.
If anyone is interested in this cable replacement, reply, if not I'll just scrap this message.
I will be documenting this process with pictures for future info.

LAST EDITED ON 31-May-01 AT 04:25 PM (PST)

My car is to a 95 and yes I'm talking 'bout a power moonroof. There is 2 cables behind the tracks. The tracks need to be removed to view them. I will more than likely do this repair this weekend (weather dependant, Texas here) along with a new cold intake. I will take pictures of the process step by step so you can see what I'm talking about. P.S. Remember, moonroofs are glass and sunroofs are metal.

Well here's the scoop, if you have problems with your sunroof take it an aurthorized shop work on it. The only thing that was wrong with mine after 4 hours of working on it wasnt even the cable. I was a plastic sleeve that went around the end of the cable that broke and the other side was cracking bad so no telling when the other side was going to break. Well I screwed the whole sunroof up so now I have to buy another one. But aleast I will have a 3 year warranty on the new one. So again I reccomend not working on the sunroof yourself if you can help it.
