4724, Twin DTM Mufflers :-) Posted by RS_Guy, May-27-01 03:43 PM
I decided that I like the "twin muffler" look alot. I already have an A'PEXIi N1 muffler, but I am getting sick of it.
I want to put TWO "Upswept DTM Style" mufflers, one on each side. To help you visualize this easier, I also have a Blitz Back bumper, just like the one in "The Fast and The Furious". i.e. with the reverse lights in stock (97-99) position, not placed beside the liscence plate.
Example of the mufflers that I am talking about:

So, dya think it'll look good, or am I plain crazy with bad taste?
Things to keep in Mind: A second muffler WILL fir (just can't be too wide). I need DTM mufflers that are as free-flowing as possible, I am turbo'd past Stage II.
Can you also please list ANY/ALL Mufflers of that style that you can think of?
Thanks,
Guy RS_Guy

I was gonna do that but I don't have a body kit and it won't work with the stock back bumper. I have one DTM on there now and I have thought about getting an N-1 style instead.

I have one DTM muffler with my blitz kit, it is OBX muffler and i am really impressed with the deep, throaty sound and its good looks. But i would personally go with Dual Apexi N1's angled out with the Blitz rear. Click here for pics http://www.speedoptions.com/news_hottestcar.asp?aID=664&ref=default&v=5&pg=0

If you get the new muffler will you sell me the old apex N1. That is what I want. BTW what size inlet does the apex n1 have?

LAST EDITED ON 28-May-01 AT 07:17 PM (PST)Something just occured to me... the Blitz back bumper sticks out quite far, and I am hoping that the DTM muffler tips will extend about 3/4" to 1" behind it. This is also for reverb sound issues inside the car.
My main worry is getting DTMs that flow enough air to be suitable for turbocharged applications. I know that two will be better than one, but they must have at least 2.5" inlets (preferably 3" and up).
Say, anyone know where I can get more info on 5Zigen DTMs? Their website sucks...
icjeclipse: I really don't want to go with two N1s (I will need to buy TWO more N1s, as the one I have now will look old compared to a new one)... I also think that eclipse-wise it is too common. Personally, I prefer the "Euro" look to the Japanese look. Thanks for that link to speedoptions though, I wanted to see more pics of that car ever since I saw it in a magazine.
DAVE_FL: I don't really know if you'd want the N1 muffler off my car. The idiots at the body shop "accidentally" scuffed the top o f the tip with a sander or something... The inlet size, I believe, is 3", but other N1s may have different dimensions. The dimensions from A'PEXi vary from year to year.... Anyway, I still have to find some DTMs to replace it first before I sell it.
