I don't like the way the overlays look, plus having a 99 my HVAC controls look slightly different from everyone elses (so they would look especially horrible on my car)

I could get the replacement HVAC face from http://www.blackcatcustom.com but the LED lighting doesn't match and I would like to get the red to light up on the temp knob.

i have no idea how to make reverse indiglos, i did not ask that anyway, but yeah i can make indiglo HVAC controls, but the switch wil still be that ugly orange color so the LED mod will be have to been done there.
the paper to make them is around 100 bucks for a 8*11 sheet. with that i am assuming i can make 3-4. i am gonna order the sheet today. i will keep u guys updated

take the originals, scan them into the computer, keeping original sizes, then invert the black parts print out a transparancy.
the rest should be simple to figure out.

hey... where you ordering the electro-luminus sheets from?? I have a little project I wanna do, but can't seem to find a place that sells them. (retail atleast), everyplace I found wants me to buy wholesale. And I really dont need 1000 sheets. and, also what color is it? the blue or the green?

I would also take ones in reverse indiglo

I'd be interested if the price was decent.

i ordered one 8x12 sheet i think i can make three or four out of that. but let me make them first then we will see how many i will sell. i know i have to make two for myself.

what if instaed of printing out the images on the hvac contorls in black, fill in everything but the hvac contorl images in black ink or what ever color . then only the images would be showing when you light em up right? i dunno.just a thought

well that was my point. i want black face reverse indiglo gauges for my speedo and tach. i just thought it would be cool. it would look stock until you turn those babies on at night :)

Dude, this is much easier than you think to make reverse indiglow gauges. Take your original scan and make all the numbers (well, symbols) black and make sure you have a good outline. Take that scan to a vinyl cutter and have them denote the black areas as cut-outs. They will cut you the vinyl so that the symbols will be removed. Then you overlay the vinyl cut-outs onto your indiglow sheets. That way your symbols would be blue day and night (only glowing at night). It's a pretty simple thing to do, maybe you haven't thought about that yet. Hell, it's actually easier than doing it the way you're talking about. Lining up a big piece like that is much simpler than worrying about a whole shitload of little pieces being in the right spots :)

OH yeah, and don't forget to laminate them when you're done!

uh.. that sounds like a good idea, but wouldn't be just easier if you just sanded your original faces and just put those ontop of the glow sheets?? Well,, thats what I ended up doing for my temp and gas gauges. I took a set of old indiglo faces from a friends civic and just seperated the top layer from the glow sheet, did a little cleaningup and just slid them under my original faces. looks like normal during the day, and blue at night.

p.s.- where you getting the sheets from? and how much? Im kinda looking for some for another project of mine.
