i am thinking about doing this in my next car, but two things are holding me back:

1) digital guages dont give your eyes the "full show" of what is going on. your eyes can see several needles rising at the same time and work out what is going on with the car, but with digital guages, your brain has to focus on numbers, and you cant take in more than one or two guages at a time. it doesnt really matter if your name is true to your car, but for a modified car this would be near blasphemy, LOL. plus...its just neat-o to see all the needles moving around, hahaha....guess im wierd like that. ;)

2) personally, i would want to retain all the "idiot lights". it would be a PITA to incorperate all of that into a custom cluster setup.

however, i havent discounted the idea completely. after this summer, expect to see a very clean uncluttered dash on my new (and unannounced as of yet) car that still maintains full functionality.}( there will most likely be at least 2 digital guages.

I thought about it too, know I would get a junk gauges from ebay, then you can kill those. The only think I see that would be a prob whould get a acurate muestument. And geting room for the gauges to fit may be a prob. So my advise would be if you have the experiance, time and paintance go for it, if not, dont wastt your time

its called a "heads up" display. do a google search and youll find plenty of info. make sure you use the term "car" or similar when searching, however, because otherwise youll come up with a lot of irrelevent info.

heres one link i found with a quick search:

i could go for a hud with temp, speed, and rpm. but it would have to be one unit. hopefully somewhat hideable as far as the box goes.
