Okay so this morning I am walking out to my car to start it up and let it get warm. I sit down in the car turn it on, get out and shut the door. Then I remember that I needed to get somthing out of the back seat. So I reach for the handle pull it open and...SNAP The door doesn't open but the handle comes right off. So now I am stuck having to open my car through the passenger side climbing into it and opening the drivers door from the inside. Well I was just wondering if anyone on the board has replaced their door handle?? If so how difficult is it? how long did it take? Thanks in advance for any help.

Heh...I found that amusing for some reason....maybe its the lack of sleep talking.

It is actually a really common occurance with 2g door handles.

A guy in the Rochester DSM club who has been having a really tough time with his car had that happen at a really funny time. He's dealing with a very out of spec crank on his 96 GSX, and when he was done working on his car... he closed the hood and went to open his car door, only to realize that it was locked. He fished for his keys from his pocket and saw that they were not there. He could, however see the lanyard that the keys were attached to stuck under the hood of the car. He got a coat hanger and fished out part of the lanyard that was stuck and started tugging on it....well it broke. So now the keys were far in the engine bay with the hood closed, and he had a broken lanyard in his hand. So out of frustration, he pulls on his door handle again only to have it snap off in his hands :D

Needless to say, I'm sure there was a long slur of foul language, followed by a few bouts of screaming and yelling.

So it does happen to people. Just be glad it didn't happen like this :)
