I just put my front end on, the shop matched my bumper to the car perfectly. Almost 100%. I think you shop isn't as good as mine...maybe go somewhere else?

When I first got my car the sideskirts were a diffrent silver than the rest of the car. This is also the same on my friends silver eclipse... I had one shop put on my sides and a diffrent one put on my front, both seem to match the car

My car was in an accident last August, and I had to get a new fender and bumper. While I admit they will never equal the quality of factory, that's just expected when an insuracne pays and they won't give you more coats of paint than needed, nor it's the same process for a new car paint, the color is exact...

before when i had the full kit, mine was kinda off. but now, it's almost dead on. usually when something is painted to match the car, it's blended in. so even if it's close but not perfect, it's blended together to give the perfect look. so unless the entire car is repainted, it will never be "perfect".

Factory silver doesn't even match. The sides and rear never look like they match. The shop didn't match mine. Ryan I can see in pics a little difference but maybe in person it looks better. This silver is impossible. How could red be hard to match?

i'm not sure about the brite red, but my red sucks!!! it has rust and gold in the paint and that's how mine differs from ordinary burgendy/maroon colors. this bodyshop did a good job though. alot better than before:thumbsup

pearl paint is gonna look different in different lightings. get the car in even lighting. If it matches, it's str8. I have never had problems with my stuff matching. I usually get that it will be no problem- they say silver is easy to match. Maybe you oughta come to NC for paint. :wary my front looks like it doesn't match b/c of the shadows and stuff in the sig pic.

I always thought that black was the hardest color to match. Anyway, from what i see the stock silver is a toughy. My friend has a kit on his car, had all the work doen at a reputable shop, and it differs in color like whoa in certain light. Like shuwa said, it won't be perfect unless the whole car gets painted.

There is away to avoid the color match problem. The call it "dating" the paint.(New York Term) This is basically a very cool option that you can have done to you car that has most of the bennefits of repainting your car, but not as costy. Most places will paint your bumper or fender off the car, then put it on. Some will fit the bumper then paint it. An option that I had was this, I have a 95 so my car color has faded slightly. They paint the bumper/fender/ whateva you need repainted like normal then they lightly sand the clear coat of the rest of the car. They spary an age color, basically the factory color slightly faded to match the condition of your car on the car whole car and then spray a clear coat back on. This is much cheaper then repainting the car and makes the car look smooth, all on color. It takes out the small scartched similar to sominizing your car. The car will be slighty off from the factory color, but it will be smooth. I mean face it, the cars factory color will slightly fade after a couple of years.

I'm not sure if this is done eveywhere, I mean cars get alot of abuse in New York with snow, and and the tons of salt the put down.

Hey guys, I need to hijack this thread for a second. I'm going to be pulling my red front bumper cover off this weekend, stripping it down, and repainting it the factory silver color so I can sell it to another guy. My question is, what is the paint code and the name of the factory silver color??

Thanks!!

if it did match it wouldn't look any different.... you can def. tell your car's body kit and hood were painted at different times... has nothing to do with the pearls..... if you add to much pearl it changes the whole color of the car..... pearls are weighed in as are paints.... silver is just impossible to match....... you have to reapint the whole car one color for it not to look mismatched...... it all has to do with temp and hudimity...........

Well if you concentrate hard enough you can se anything, hell I can picture an intercooler hehe..pretty darn close. Silver is by far a very tough color to match. Ive heard it fades from the sun more easily or more noticeably, I'm just happy that the color match is good enough that it doesn't stand out. I've seen some where it's blantantly obvious the color is off...I'd take mine back if I wasn' pleased.

Before I had my car repainted, I had like 4 different shades of White on my car. It wasn't horribly noticeable, but if you looked hard enough you could see it. I had mine repainted 2 weeks ago to a platnium white base coat with a heavy ice blue metallic pearl, it all matches and looks absolutely awesome.

Oh Yeah, black is the hardest color to match. Some body shops will charge extra for a black paint or some won't even do it now. I've seen a guy spend 4 days painting a car a custom black, everyday he would have a slighty different shade of black, even though he was using the same mixtures everytime. He swore he'd never do a custom black again. I guess it all depends on your paint man, everybody has their preferences.

Mine is silver, I've had the hood color matched to both front fenders and the bumper, I've had the bumper color matched to the right fender. Never noticed a difference...

Well, for a hood to be noticeable, the color has to really be off. The way the light hits the hood since it is facing up creates an illusion, and it will appear to match almost always...unless it's totally off.

Pretty much the only reason is why they cant get that EXACT color is because they bake that shit so hot. Its about 350-375 degrees. When they bake them now, its like half that, if that. No matter what color, it will NEVER be the same.

my car used to be silver..and when i bought it the drivers side was 3 shades of silver. I've been told by the guy who did my car that white is actually the hardest to match since it has the most variences..but i'm sure that silver and red...etc are not far off..

I just got my turbo wing put on, and this guy the most exact paint match ive seen on minden silver eclipses. I know some people have problems with paint matches, but you need to blend alot to get it to look right. By these pics you cant really tell alot but ill get some sunlight pics to show you how good the match was

before

After

I just got my kit painted this week and in certain lights it looks darker than the rest of the car. It is pretty hard to tell but since I know it is off I see it clear as day. I think that I am going to have the rest of the car painted since he couldn't match it. Wouldn't you think that he would have to give me a fat discount to paint the rest of my car since the only reason I am doing it is because it is offcolored?

from my experiences with body shops and painting and knowing a lot of paint guys.... silver will never match exactly...... Silver dries different everytime... it all has to do with the hudimity and temp... it can look close but a good paint guy will always be able to tell where it has been repainted.... you best bet is if you want a show car then repaint the whole car at once...

wait, isn't black the easiest? a deep black like the stock kalapana black should be easy right? (relative speaking, of course)

get a shop to match your paint by computer. Where they get a pic of ur paint and match it that way. Mine looks shitty on here. The pic has some weird shadows and the car wasn't as clean as I wanted. It rained and I had to wipe it down. x( I'll get some more Sunday at the show. My stuff matches up tho. Probably not perfect, but close enough. People commented Saturday about how well it blended. Iono- maybe it was the camera or something. I think some people on here are gonna be there Sunday. I'll get witnesses. :P
