Well I followed that writeup that iamnotwhoiam posted.. but the LEDs aren't turning on!! :( I don't know what's wrong.. I soldered the resistors to the pos. side of the LED, then jimmied it to the plastic holder.. tried switching polarities to see if that was the reason, but no result. Then I tried just electrical taping the neg. end of the LED to a side of the copper on the green plastic thing and the resistor end to the other side.. but still nothing. Switched polarities too, but nope heh.

Anyone have any ideas?

this might be a stupid questions, but didja turn on the switch? otherwise was the stock light lighting up ok when you opened everything up? and you're sure you have one lead connected to the positive wire and the other to the ground wire? if you've got a multimeter check the voltage on the wires you're tapping into.

yeah got em working heh. ended up soldering the leads on the copper
that's on the green plastic sheet. turns out that the brightness
mentioned in the iamnotwhoiam's howto is cuz of the LEDs themselves..
they have a really narrow beam so there will be bright spots even if
you sand the faces carefully. but i guess you can tweak the angle of
the LEDs

all in all, i don't think I would do this mod for a few reasons
1. too much work :D for what you put into it.. 7 LEDs at radioshack
at $3.99 is not cool. specially since they make bright spots
2. theres stuff that looks way better out there like reverse indiglos
and is cheaper and looks nicer imho
3. bulbs. they have bulbs that i think can replace our stock ones
that go in the cluster gauge: think I saw this in a forum post earlier: http://www.lightlens.com/coloredbulbs.htm

I really would not recommend getting the LEDs.. they're bright, but
only within a very narrow angle.

I guess if you really want stock black face with blue at night, then give it a try. Anyone try the bulbs ^^^ yet?

I am thinking of doing it with the leds pointed backwards or to the side and lining the part behind the gauges with alum foil....We shall see how it goes.
