i thought about gettin a turbo wing......but since i have a 99 i have about 12 holes on the hatch and rear quarter panels i would have to fill. my buddy has a 95 rs and his stock 3 piece was stuck on with sticky shit..only 2 holes in the middle of the hatch for the led wire and a mountin hole.....it just depends on if u got holes in the back or not.....to do it right.....all the holes would have to be welded up and the entire back end would need paintin....for a stock wing its not for me.....but since u have a 96 u might not have all those holes that us 99ers have....take your wing off and see what u got...no holes= not much...or better yet.....just look underneth the hatch to see if there is any screws you would have to take out...

i looked into doing it but its not really worth it. It comes out to like 500+ dollars to do cuz they have to fill holes repaint the hatch then u have to buy the wing and paint it if it isnt prepainted.

i had the turbo wing installed on my 97....it was very expensive to have it done correctly. it cost me a thousand to have it painted and installed(installation included: welding metal over all the old holes, painting the rear quarter panels, hatch, and wing, and then actual installation of the wing.) plus you gotta go out and get a third brake light to mount in the rear windshield, that came out to be a little bit over a hundred.

Unless you are looking for an absolutely perfect install you can just touch up the holes yourself. Get some rubber plugs, tape them on from the bottom, shave off the top (outside) part that sticks out, get some touchup paint and be really careful.

I mean, it won't be perfect, but it won't be noticeable unless someone really inspects your car.

Rear window brakelight is pretty cheap.. i picked one up for 40 bucks. I think it's pretty much plug and play, all the wiring should be there. Check dsmtraders.com, alot of GST/GSX people end up going with wings that have LED lights so they take off their window brakelights.

Only reason i'm saying this, is because i just purchased a turbo wing too, and I'm sure not going to pay 500+ to get it installed. x(

well your buddy's 95 is fucked. i just tore my 3piece off and it had 4(i believe) in each side piece and 5 plus one huge hole for the break light area for the center piece. I filled all of my holes with fiberglass. they all came out perfectly but since i'm installing the WW # piece i only really cared about the midle two holes.

but anyway to have someone fill the holes it would be spendy but after all is said and done you will have to have half the car painted. to much i say unless your repainting the entire car.

I was quoted for $500 to get mine installed but since I'm in with the body shop people, they only charged me $40.

You lucky bastard. :P

Did you have to repaint the hatch and rear quarter panels too? I'm wondering if there are any body shops that are willing to just to touch ups instead of repainting everything.

i know i'm going to get flame for this but with a commando wing you only need to cover the side holes it mounts on top of the other ones i don't have one in my car but i saw one

my opinion is..screw the turbo wing..yes it is nice but who cares..use that $500+ to save up for a turbo kit. Why look turbo and not be turbo? I think looking non-turbo and having a nice stage2 and up kit would be really nice. Good sleeper. But if you're into looks then do it. But it is pricey

I'm not trying to look turbo, i'm trying to look 99 OZ rally edition. :P

I agree with you though, i'm not about to spend 500+ bucks to look like something i'm not. I found a black turbo wing for 150, so with a little luck and some planning, i'm hoping to have it look semi decent for a little while.. then fix and paint the holes when (if) I ever paint the whole car.
