What type of the autometer gauges look nice in our car. I mean as far as the style they come in....phantom, ultra-lite, etc. Anyone got any pics of them in thier car? Or do any of them glow a dark blue at night?

Go with the White face Phantom series if you want to match white face gauge overlays and buy the blue bulb condoms for them. The gauges come with red and green bulb condoms and the red looks like the stock amber color if you want the stock look.

none, autometer gauges are gh3y. spend the extra money and buy a real gauge (greddy, apexi, etc.)

Dude you want to spend HUNDREDS on gauges go ahead. But I recommend the UltraLite's. They are the ones in my gauge bezel. Don't buy the condoms, they suck. Search ebay for 168/194 LED bulbs. Either single or double LED, which are brighter. They should cost like $8-$15 for two. Use those. You get any Autometer gauge with blue background and you don't have to pay the premium the Cobalt have now...:thumbsup

Jas....do the ultra-lite automtically come with that blue backround (not the light) or do i have to ask for it?

Also....do i need mechanical or electrical ones? Any why do EGT's cost 100 dollars?

Those in the a-pillar are Cobalts. Only come one way only.

0-----0 <----------The gauge bezel, those are Ultra Lite's.

EGT's cost alot cause of the gauge and the probe. They are elec. You can get away with mecanical gauges but it's your choice depending on gauges.

if you're planning on getting a fp gauge go w/ electric, they're expensive, but electric is the only way to have it in the car. i've also got electric oil press, but you can go w/ mechanical if you want. ultralites are the cheapest, all my gauges are ultralite except egt(greddy) and a/f

Sport comp series. It matched my interior scheme with black and silver, since the sport comp gauges come with silver bezels. They also match the stock gauges, with a black dial, and white numbers. Even the backlight in the guages match the stock lighting pretty closely. Best pic i got, aside from my sig pic. I got my tripple pillar at www.gaugepods.com About 50 bucks or so, but fits much better than the autometer ones. It fully replaces your stock pillar, rather than a cover over type.

yah gaugepods is where i found the cheapest also. Sorry for asking so much noob questions...but i dont wanna get the wrong shit.

So for my gauges...it is best to get electrical ones? Exactly what is the diff between the mechanical and electrical ones? When i first read that...i thought the electrical ones showed LED's numbers rather than the pointer. But once i saw the pic of the electrical ones...the actual face of the gauge looks the same. So could someone explain how mechanical and electrical differ?

Electrical gauges use probes, sensors, etc to measure. In some cases it's safer to use than mechanical cause you don't want fluids like oil, fuel, running inside the car. In the case of a boost gauge instead of the direct connection to to the vac line you have a small hose connecting into the vac line but a small box in between the gauge and hose that "reads" the info. Some say electrical are more accurate and mechanical. A/F are elctrical eitherway. Gauges with LED numbers are called digital gauges. Some prefer these aswell. It all comes down to preference, althought some gauges are better to get a more accurate reading, say an A/F, instead of the blinky little lights. :D

Xterme....do you remember where you got your sport comps? My interios is also black/silver and those would go very nice. So far i have found summit to have the best pricing.. Has anyone found differently?

So A/F gauge will be electical no matter what correct?
And for those who have turbo/gauges. did you go with mechancal or electrical for the other ones? Boost and EGT.

Got my gauges at Summit. I have a mechanical boost, electric EGT, electric fuel pressure, and of course the blinky light A/F gauge. I also have a Cyberdyne digital volt gauge in the left side of my dash gauge bezel. I have had that gauge in one of my old cars, so i just took off the bezel and painted it silver to match the autometer's. I like electrical gauges over mechanical, but thats just my preference.

does autometer sell any reverse indiglo type gauges besides the cobalts? those look pretty nice but the price sure isn't... i don't need to by gauges anytime soon but i was just wondering. i'm gonna eventually swith to reverse indiglos and importintelligence needles in my dash so i kinda want some gauges that'll match that. i like the way the cobalts in jasvb's pillar look at nite. do any other gauges even have an illuminated needle? thanks for the info

Ultra Lites are good. I don't think they make an elec. boost for this model. But I had the mech. one and it worked great. I changed it when I got the Cobalts. Also make sure when you order your EGT, you get the probe kit, or Pyrometer. Cause some have ordered the EGT and it's just the gauge, no probe. Get the EGT model 4344, A/F model 4375 and Boost either 4301 or 4303. :D
