42997, engine bay suggestions Posted by MCubed45, Mar-19-03 03:34 PM
hey guys, i'm gonna be buying a strut bar and was looking for suggestions on a color scheme for my engine bay. i'm thinking 'bout getting either a blue or silver strut bar (ractive). my car's the stock red right now. i've got a black chrome CAI with blue silicone couplings. haven't done any loom or hoses yet. i'm not sure what i wanna do as far as accenting and everyting... any suggestions? thanks!

Can't go wrong with silver. Make sure you do a good job of getting everything clean (get all the dirt and oil of everything you can see) or it just won't look right if you addd wire loom and try to dress it up.

Here is mine. Polished with blue loom. Hope that gives you ideas. You know I have never seen two identical 420A under hood pics...:thumbsup. Unlike Honda's...:rolleyes

You could try and color match your car...

I've always been a fan of silver on red. It really looks nice. Blue is more "classic." Go for polished and blue. Get the best of both worlds. :thumbsup

I would go with silver. I think that looks hot on red cars... get pics when you're done man.

my car is "barcelona red" aka burgandy/maroon and Im going blue, its a nice contrast how ever I am slowly but surely going back to black on the interior, I regret painting the stuff silver.
Anyone got a stock black instrument bezel? :(

yea actually i was only considering blue b/c i like the couplings on my CAI. but now that i think about it i think the strut bar is too big a piece in the engine bay to have a contrasting color like blue. i think i'll go w/ silver. i wanna paint my valve color eventually too though maybe. hmmm. hehe but nothin spruces up an engine bay like a turbo :) gotta get me one of those!

I went with red and silver, with a few parts being polished. This pic doesn't show all my polished pieces though. :-(
Oh yeah, I also took off that ugly orange heat shield for the upper radiator hose.

Hey guys here's a question for ya. I love the look of all the matching colored wires but what is it. Do you buy a set (if so where and does it come w/ all the tubes and wires) or do you just go around and buy certain types of wires that match here and there? Ok and are they wires and tubes at all or just covers? Lastly is it looks or performance (new clean wires would seem be better for the moter)... Thanks in advance...

I got it done in Carlisle and it takes about a week. I have an extra valve cover and can get it done for the right price. Make an offer!:thumbsup

Did you have to request anything special to get your VC to look that nice Jersey? Or is that what they come back looking like when you get it powder coated? Im getting mine done in a few weeks and thats exactally what I want it to look like :D

Well, they didn't sand and polish the letters. I had to do it myself, besides for that, it came just as pictured. The only reason it cost around $60 is because they did a double coat. First they coated it silver and then they coated it with the blue. I couldn't have been happier with the results.:thumbsup
