42062, Rear glass replacement? How hard is it to do yourself? Posted by Kirby, Mar-04-03 06:01 AM
I had an accdent a while back and had to replace the hatch. The defrost on the new one does not work and my old one does, and is also tinted and has stickers. I need to put the other glass in this new hatch. Is it easy and what is involved?

I think the shop manual goes into detail on that. I would expect it to be a big PITA. You can buy repair strips for the defroster if you can locate the problem (a couple of my strips are dead).
Where's that 2.2!?

Jus take it to a glass place to get done. Huuuuge pain in the ass if you don't know what you are doing. Takes about 30 mins or so, depending, on a windshield for a certified, and decent, person to do.

Yeah when you get your window repaired the cost is in the glass, not the work. Takes those guys about 30 minutes. And if they break it they'll fix it. If you break it you're screwed.

Exactly what they said. Take it to a glass shop to have it done. It takes us about 15 minutes to install a new glass. It's really easy when you have all the tools and everything.
