i noticed some of the eclipses out there have a mesh looking grill on the front of them, mostly the 97-99s. I was wondering what the people used to make this mesh piece between the foglights, and if it would work on a 96 if the middle plastic piece was removed?

most people buy the kit from grill craft, for about $170, since nobody's really found a piece of mesh that will fit the 97-99 eclipse (getting to that, give me a minute). it won't work on the 96 because the grill's custom cut for the 97-99. you can get a piece of mesh that will fit in the grill and place it behind the bumper, and find someway to mount it.

now, for you 97-99 year owner's that don't want to pay $170 for a piece of mesh. i was at home depot sunday, and found a child guard for a screen door. it's to keep kids from busting the screen out of the door, and keep the screen open for air flow at the same time. to do that, it used a piece of mesh that could be cut (the screen looked like it was 3'X 3', and in an aluminum frame) to fit behind the bumper's of the 97-99's, and the real catcher.....it only cost $20.

I just used some chicken wire type stuff. It comes in a roll. Only $6 plus zip ties. If you look at some of my posts from a few days ago pics of it should be on the signature.

the only problem with doing that on a 97-99 eclipse, is that the grill opening is too tall for the gutter guard to fit in, so you have to find a bigger piece of mesh to fit it. that works great on an elipse of an earlier year, or a talon, though

Easiest thing to do: go to Home Depot, get some mesh Gutter Guards (about $1.50 ea, 3 foot x 6" sections). Take the pieces, cut and bend as necessary, and attach to inside of bumper. Takes maybe an hour or so (with the bumper installed).....and looks kick ass, and for only $4.50!!!!

another plus to the whole "gutter guard" grill is that it so damn easy and cheap. it only takes about a hour to do. ive changed my grill color a few times to see what looks best. ive done red to match the car, silver, and tomorrow im making a white grill. still looking for a larger peice to fill the entire middle hole though.

Hey, forget about Gutter Guard. You want diamond stucco lath. It's basically a 2x6 sheet of Gutter Guard, that's what I used, I'll have pic tonight.

Yeah, I took the bumper off so I could get the black plastic junk in front of the radiator out, and it makes putting the mesh on a hell of a lot easier. I took off the mesh to paint it (didn't take the bumper off, took out from bottom) and after painting it I couldn't get it back on right, so the bumper's gonna have to come off again. Oh and it's actually attached with black zip ties. Can't see the ties and easy to take off.

How do you guys get your sides to stay? The front piece was easy as hell with gutter gaurd and zip ties but the sides I rigged up pretty crazy and it sucks.

I used 2 peices and connected them behind one of the supports, that way the whole thing is supported by the front, and a couple of zip ties on the side to anything i could find under there. . .
