Well...I finally got my Sensei body kit and I can't wait to get it installed. Someone told me that I should drive with it unpainted for like 2 weeks to let it break in. He said this will prevent little hairline cracks from forming in the paint. I had planned on driving with it unpainted to get used to it, but not for 2 weeks. I was thinking more like 2-3 days. How long should I let it break in before I get it painted? TIA!

well from my experiences its like 2-3 months hehe. you dont have to but it helps prevent things like that

u should drive with it unpainted. this way it will give u some time to get used driving with a kit. now install that sucker and watch those drive ways!

EDIT: u don't have to wait two weeks. when u feel rdy to paint, paint.

u shouldnt need to break in a body kit, infact.. by driving the kit unpainted for several days or weeks will cause imperfections in the kit itself from rocks, etc hitting it..

i had my kit put on and painted all at once and i have had no problems, granted i have scraped a lil bit..but u will always have probs with scraping, sometimes it will be unavoidable.

You should drive with it unpainted for at least four weeks to let everyone around know that you are indeed a ricer. J/K. But, if I was you I would paint it before I put it on because taking it on and off again can be a bitch and you might break it in the process.

you should drive it for at least 100 miles or so, because it will flex, and it does need to be broken in, exspecially with a blitz kit with all the downforce and flex thatt kit does. if you dont do it, and you get the kit painted, without it being seated properly, you might form streess cracks sooner or later from the bumper flexing. its happen to me with 2 different kits. hope this helps....

Yeah if you're smart, you'll drive with it unpainted to look for any weak or stress points in the kit. Then the shop can reinforce it before painting it. You may be lucky and not have any probs painting it right away, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Most kits don't fit perfect.

as marcus stated, you need to drive it around because you will see the stress cracks come out and then you will need to re-inforce those area's... i'v seen too many people just throw the kits on at the paint shop with out gettting the stress cracks out and the look on there face after the first week of driving it when they see there nice 3000.00 paint job ruined cause it has cracks in it,,,, drive it normal don't take it easy. reason being is that sooner or later you will start driving normal again and that's when you will see the cracks come out. yes some kits won't crack but most will but it's an easy fix when it's not painted..... good luck with it ....:thumbsup

Should you do a 'break in' period with urethane as well? I dont think that you would have to, but just curious.....

no urethane won't crack like fiberglass(as in spidercracks). it flexs so all you have to do is bring it to the paint shop fit it on and paint and then your good to go.....
