40573, Door Handle Posted by SlowButLow, Feb-12-03 08:18 AM
I've almost got my exterior door handle off on the driver side of my car (which sucked due to lack of space), how do I seperate the actual old broken exterior door handle from the metal bar thing that actually opens the door? Does it snap off or what? I don't want to break/bend it because I would like to be able to open my door without any problems. This sucks because both of my exterior door handles have broken off this week and I have to leave the windows down or climb threw the hatch to get in!

There is a white plastic clip that holds the metal rod into the hole. It will "Swing" out (Not the direction the rod will exit the hole, rather to the side. Think of the hole where the rod goes as a pivot point.) and this will allow the clip to unsnap from the rod (not the handle) then you can pull the rod out of the hole.
