40479, Trunk issue, please help Posted by 98RsT, Feb-10-03 03:07 PM
Hi fellas, Well since I bought my car, when I pull the handle to release the trunk, it pops up half way. I then have to walk to the back, and then pull it up till it stops on the hook (about 1/2" from closed), then pull the handle again, and then it goes all the way open. Any Ideas?
Also how many pound popper do you guys use to remote pop your trunks with an alarms second channel?
Thanks,

I've been having to do that for the past several months. I have to unlock the trunk and pop it, then lift it a little, then turn the key again.

Its just because our hatch weighs a lot. I agree with Seans web link, someone dropped the ball when they designed our hatch "system" Ive been doing the double pop thing for months now...

it just may mean you need better struts back there.. but with the high wing those add a good deal of weight so that is part of the problem. i have not had any problems with my hatch since i replaced the struts and weatherstripping..

You can also try adjusting the lock from the inside (need to remove trunk panels). You can adjust it so the latch is higher or lower (so your trunk will sit higher or lower than now). If you make it higher, it may be easier to pop.
