39797, Fuel gauge stickin...(((HELP)))
Posted by Aggression, Jan-30-03 12:50 PM
I fill my car up and the fuel gauge takes about a half hour of driving or 30 miles of driving before the gauge starts to register the fuel I put in the car. Then when it gets a little below half a tank it stays there like its stuck or something. My question is what are all the possibilities for what could be wrong? I was thinking maybe the float but I have no idea. Anyone have any ideas??? tia

Look to see if your indiglo gauge has come up and is touching the needle. Mine did that for a while until I used double sided tape to hold it down.

That's most likely it. My Tach did that with my indiglo gauges. I don't suggest using any tape underneith unless it's very very thin. Mine stuck cause the tape was too thick. You can use tape on the edges and you won't see it.

You may have also forgot to remove a screw before you put on the gauges. You're supposed to remove some screws, but the gauges on, the put the screws back in...but I can't remember if that was on the fuel gauge or not.
