but how did you get the pieces off? do they pop off or do you have to take everything apart? im planning on painting my interior when it gets warmer

everything pretty much pops off, the center vent is hooked in by a cable that controls the right dial, to get to it, take off the side center panel, look in back of the stereo, youll see a black cable attatched to a white peg, it slips right off, all buttons you screw off once the piece is out, its really easy

I can't tell from the pics...did you sand the plastic smooth or just leave the texture and paint over it. The reason I ask is because the first time I painted my interior I left the texture. It looked good but when I sanded it all smooth and repainted it, it looked 300 times better!

i smoothed everything out, it looks fiberglassed, i like ur interior too, ahh silver trim joined with alpine heads :thumbsup

off topic but did u cut ur b&m shifter? it looks pretty darn good!

nope, thats how the b&m looks stock. it is pretty damn low for an uncut shifter. at 50% throw reduction (what i have it set at) 1st gear is as far back as neutral used to be, it was very stiff, to the point that i had to basically throw it into gear, but now, its pretty much broken in. it lowered the shifter a lil over 1 in.

ps-i just used spray from homedepot, lol, a paint job is only just as good as the prep work, i spent an ungodly amount of hours smoothing the pieces out, started with 150 grit, then 220, 320, 400, then 600, 3 coats of primer, 3-4 coats of paint, and around 3 coats of high gloss.

Yeah I just used regular ole duplicolor stuff and satin clear coat....Like ^^^^ said its all about the prep work!! :thumbsup

ahh you have the infamous 95-96 blue interior that was in some silver and white cars. i hated it so i painted mine all black.

this is kinda ot too lol but im havin a problem painting the bezel around the gauge cluster. not the one on this inside of the glass, the big oval piece that you have painted silver. i sanded it down, primed it, and when i did there are clumps that are not smooth on it, it is bubbling and very rough. the original surface was smooth, so i sanded it down again, and the same thing is happening. do you think this is happeneing b/c it's too cold in my garage where im painting it? thanks guys

either that or you are painting it too close and putting too thick of a coat on it

yep ur sparying too close, i messed up mine on my mx3 like that too

nope its from being to cold. last week i was painting almost all of my interior and i was having that problem on the pieces i was doing at night, the pieces i was doing in the day weren't doing it. back when i painted that piece i just sprayed a whole can on it from real close and let it dry for a few days. its really smooth.

thanks jesse, and about the paint bubbles, the center hvac bezel i had to restrip and paint 3 times because i was getting too impatient and i sprayed way too much paint. spray around 8-10 inches away, if all you put are small dusting coats on it, when ur done, it will look smooth as hell.
