38756, need some opinions

Hey everyone
I have a delima and I would like some take on my situation. Im more into the show than the go so please dont burn me lol.
I have a 99 eclipse, and show season is comming up. I have a lil bit of money saved up so I can actualy do some stuff for my car.
I have three senarios and im kinda stuck with which one I want to go with.
One I want to shave the entire car down. Shave the handles, Shave the hood squirters, shave the roof body line, Im thinking about keeping my back winshield wiper for the sake of its the only thing that says its not an RS. I also wanna keep my power intena because i kinda like it. Im also gonna mold z3 fender inserts in, mold my blitz side skirts to the car, mold in some nsx/mr2 vents. And mold in a 2000+ eclipse fuel door. my body kit needs a lil work due to someone backing into me at a show and left a small crack in the fiberglass, not really bad though. I also Need to fix somethin on the front and i havent put the sides on yet. After I do all this I prolly wont have enough to repaint the car for a while and I will just color primer the car blue.
Second senario. Repair my body kit, put side skirts without molding, and repaint the body kit. Basically fix the things that I see wrong with my car.
Some other things I have been toying with is keeping the car how it is and getting either a carbon fiber hood and a few lil things, or getting an air ride system.
My car looks pretty good right now as it is. I dont know how to put pics on here or I would post it. But I got all these ideas.
There are alot of eclipses in the show circuit now and i live in nc which hoking up cars is an extreme fad. I have had my share of trophies won, but it is getting harder and harder to compete at the bigger car shows.
So my main delima is do alot of body mods and ride around color primered(which alot of people do)and show my car unfinished this show season or fix what i got now and repaint it and stay with the same look ive had.
If anyone has any insite let me know thanks

to post a pic , just put in the web address of the picture. if you're going to have a body kit , mold it. it looks like crap just stuck on a car. i like the look of a shaved ride.

Humm..... tough choices. But if this was my car..... Id do whatever I could do, but it would HAVE to be painted. I have seeing people drive around with primer everywhere. Yea, youll have more stuff on your car, but it will look like A$S until you get it painted.

ill probably get roasted for saying this, but i like the idea of molding in a 3G gas door. get one of the race aluminum ones tho, not the cheap ass plastic ones. if i dont any major body work, that will be one thing i wanna do. shaved cars always look cool, and id keep the antenna. to me, some cars dont look very functunable, maybe its just be but i like a car that is slicked up for show, yet functional to a certain extent. if you get the c/f hood, you wont worry about having to shave the squiters. if you can afford it get everything fixed and molded. post pics, im sure youll get better replies. oh, and me personally, i like the roof scoops. again, yea ill probably be crispy by the end of this post hehe, but i like em. the first time i saw niclipse's car i nearly jizzed my pants! so yea, i think you ought to do that too, just suggesting. good luck man!

Coming form someone who knows do not start the body work unless you can finish it. My car has been primer for almost a year now and it sucks (I have not driven it in the last 4 months though). Shaving is always fun though and makes the car look so much better imo. I have everything shaved and as soon as I get my body kit it will be totaly molded in (except the front). Good luck and hope to see pics of it :thumbsup

imo, don't go primer. I am sick of seeing primered cars roll around NC. It's a fad right now. Don't do that. Get the edge on all the other guys and do what you can afford instead of being dissappointed. Your car looks good now, if I were you, I'd get shit fixed and just grab some new mods. Air ride will get you some attention at some NC shows. BUT, it'll probably set u in the wild category. That's a big step sometimes. My experiences so far- just keep it clean and do what you like. When you do something that stands out, you'll draw a crowd. It's all about cleanliness with the judges at the local shows. Spring slamboree- I thought I was beat. But cleanliness will win it or lose it. I have a few tricks up my sleeve for this show season if I can pull them off. Mainly- just do what you can afford. Your car's clean and it looks good enough to compete with the crowd from what I saw of it.

btw, when's the next show you're going to? I might try and pop up. I've got a few guys I know that do a lot of outlaw imports shows. There is usually some good competition at those. Almost every one I went to I was against several other eclipses.

yeah last nite i was sitting in my girlfriends work parking lot waiting for some of my fellow club members to get there and in a 10 min span like 5 people drove up to my car and asked me all kinds of questions. so i think im staying where i am, im gonna fix the small cracks in my body kit, get some new side skirts, paint the kit again and prolly get my cf hood. as far as shows i dont know the first one i will be at. i know i will be at slam session and depending on if my car is ready i might be at spring slamboree. but get up with me on email man and keep me updated on events and stuff and we can get together at a show or sumthin. i should have pics of my car up on here soon so everyone can see. later on, jerry

I'll go to slamboree even if I'm not done with things. I don't care about the locals this year. I wanna impress at nopi tho. If I can get some stuff done, I will. Wanted turbo, but I wanna get noticed. Think I may get the interior squared off 1st now. probably another $1,500+ for that tho. The car will be a lot different very soon. I hope the things I do don't put me in wild category at shows. If so, I'll just have to suck it up and step up I suppose. I'll keep in touch. I have trouble finding shows a lot of times. People ask me if I am going like a day b4. I need atleast a week's notice. I usually start cleaning 2-3 days b4 a show and don't drive it. If it goes to nopi this year, it will go on a trailer after I clean it. No way it'll stay clean for that drive. Anyways, good luck this year. We'll probably be bumping heads some at shows. It's all fun tho. I know the cars to look out for now b/c they have been close competition for a while. Yours is on that list b/c our cars are pretty similar. :thumbsup
Just PM me or something if you get the word on shows. I check dropjawmag.com occassionally for show dates. Outlaw imports kinda pissed me off tho. Some of their judges are on a buddy system sometimes. Luckily I haven't been in any that affected my category, but sometimes POS cars beat nice stuff. Our category is usually good tho.

i think the first show i will be at this year will be april 13th in farmington, I think its one of them outlaw import shows to. One of my close friends is Jrok from DropJawMag so i am always on top of things. He has a 3000 with a similiar paint scheme as ours. Also me and Jrok and a few of our club members judged a few of the outlaw import shows last season and I know me personally wasnt on a buddy system but ya never know. I have seen some screwy stuff and favoritism at shows before. But keep me updated with how your car is comming along. Later

i say skip the molding mang.......shave it if you have the cash. Just fix the lil things that irk you if your doin good at shows. Then from there you can decide what will bring you up a step to judges at shows. Just my opinion n whatnot.

i've spent my share of money on the body of my car.. molding with fiberglass.. shaving door lines.. painting blah blah blah.. and eventhough i would love to do more.. i have moved onto other things.. if your gonna do a new kit..sides whatever.. and you really cant afford to have it molded to the car.. then I'd wait on adding them.. it seems like your doing well with what you have so far.. I am only saying this cause i'm tired of seeing all these cars.. rollin around with their body kits either hanging off the car cause they used double sided tape to keep em on or.. seeing those big nasty lag bolts holding the kit to the body.. Here in CO.(the shows) it doesnt seem to matter if your kit is hangin off the car or if its partially painted, which i must say is very sad.. .. ..but personally i couldnt stand the thought of drilling holes into the body just to keep a part on.. or driving down the road with my body kit flappin in the breeze..lol..
