hey guys.. I'm trying to remove the windshield wiper arms because the paint is wearing off and its starting to rust. I want to repaint them but I dont want to do it with them on the car. I took the bolts off the arms at the base but they still wouldnt come off.. whats the trick to getting these bad boys off?

Coat it really well with penatrating oil. (PB Blaster is the best!) Don't use wd-40 as it sucks! If you still can't get them off you may have to use a puller. Whatever you do, DON'T be smackin' notin' with a hammer! And don't get the oil on your paint!

...and that is how we know the Earth is banana-shaped!

How many times do I have to tell you when in doubt kick it.

Seriously I use a dead blow hammer when I need to break somethign loose. but I wouldn't on the wipers... they are a bit more fragile than things I normally beat on.
