38405, I AM PISSED!
Posted by ghost, Jan-13-03 06:43 AM
Ok, I'm sitting in class with all these hot girls...when the police come in and say we need two students...someone driving a 4runner and someone driving a red mitsubishi...they had my name wrong. So I had to think about it a while and then I ran out of class to the garage.

WELL... Mr. Emergency Brake magically disengaged and then re-engaged after letting my car roll through the lot and hit a 4runner. After it hit it, it turned the brakes back on so that the police couldn't even move my car in any direction.

Now my back bumper is caved in and paint chipping everywhere and my taillights are DEMOLISHED!

AND ON TOP OF THAT, I get to buy a new taillight for the for runner and lord knows what else for her two quarter size dents and 2 dime size ding.

FUCK!

Anyone know about 4runners, other than they are expensive?

Late.

oh man that sux. it so sucks, it doesn't even make sense! how would an ebrake do that?

that same kind of think happened to my mothers car in her work parking lot. she came out and her car was pushed all the way across a divider into another person's car. Luckily, her lot has a security camera. they checked it out, and turns out some elderly man was backing up his car, somehow didn't see her car, rolled into it, and continued pushing it some 10-15 feet or so!

maybe the same old man was at your campus

I dunno, but now I gotta call this chick to HOPEFULLY get things worked out. She's rich and I'm not.

It's a common problem with Eclipses. Sometimes if the Ebrake isn't engaged all the way.. (like you really have to YANK at it) it can roll back a little. Have insurance pay for it, (claim it was an act of God if you have full coverage).

Yeah I usually leave it in gear... but today I was in a hurry to class and I didn't put it in gear...but I did yank on the ebrake pretty good...cuz when I got in, it was still solid... I actually had a tough time dis-engaging it.

Yeah she's pretty hot...what are the odds we had the same class...weird.

I'm about to call her and see if she will let me buy her new taillights and give her like some extra cash or something and see if she will be cool with that... oh yeah, I'm supposed to study with her since she and I are the only ones that missed class. lol

You guys got any ideas on how I should handle this?

I had the same shit happen about a week ago. I parked my 'Clipse, yanked the e-brake and left it. I came out an hour later, and my car was blocking the roadway. I was lucky no one hit it and it didn't roll into anything, but it did cause a problem. I can feel my car pulling to one side or the other when I brake now, and the "Brake" lght on the dash won't go off! What can I do?

my ebrake disengaged last year at my work, rolled rite out in the middle of the parking lot but did not hit anyone. I was soo lucky....see, now I think it wasn't my fault after reading this thread, as I NEVER forget the parking brake.

I also never nver ever put my car in gear when I park it... *shrugs*

I have a turbo timer. You can't leave your car in gear. Must be in neutral.

How's that work? Isn't it a 60 sec cool down? Couldn't you just stay in the car for the 60 and then put it in gear? j/w

depends on how long you drive it for. if you just drive around time and don't get into boost at all, then you could get away with just letting it cool for 30 seconds to a minute. as soon as you start boosting, it's 1 minute 30 secodns ish plus. everyone has their own take on turbotiming, usually for me it's 2 minutes minimum on the timer and 3 for highway driving and 4 for very hard driving/racing/auto-x.

damn i thought i was the only one who had something like that happen. is this a common problem with our cars? shouldn't there be a recall or tsb or somethin? i mean yea i know you should put it in gear when you park but esp. w/ a manual car you're not always gonna. mine was really minor. just had it parked in the driveway. i live in a town house though. so i go to shower and when i come out security's pounding on my door. i come out and my car's in the middle of the frickin driveway. i go to move it an the ebrake's still on. like the car had moved but it wasn't like it could move anymore when i came out. felt like everything was as it should be when it's parked. alarm hadn't gone off or anything. at the time i just figured i did something wrong like didn't pull it up all the way or something. especially b/c i'd been working on the car and the center console was out an all the ebrake an shifter an everything was exposed. but now i'm not so sure if it was something i did wrong.

i was kinda worried too b/c there's a nice mustang GT that parks right across from like maybe 10 feet away and it was there when i parked and went in to shower. when i came out and my car was blocking the driveway it was gone but it must've only been like a span of 10-20 minutes since i went in. i'm guessing the stang left before my car rolled or else it wouldn't have been able to get out. but still just a couple minutes and i woulda rolled right into it.

so how many people has this happened to now?

this seems like something kinda important for people with our cars to know...

To me, the reason for having a turbo timer is that I DON'T have to stay in the car while it's cooling down. :)

Yeah, but my reason for saying that was to prevent anymore possible wrecks like this. I'd rather sit in a car an extra 4 minutes than wreck my car again.
