37949, how to paint up invader hood?
Posted by 9D9 MITSU RS, Jan-06-03 05:48 PM
OK. I ordered an invader cf hood. black hood on silver with lots of blue= too much of a 3rd color imo. I wanna keep the great cf look on the hood, but I wanna paint some to minimize that 3rd color. Should I
A)Paint everything except the raised vent?
B)Paint everything except the vent and inside the vent?
C)Paint the outside area around vent and the raised vent, leave the rest cf?
To help out- here's a couple pics I found. Photoshop if u want. (same color car too)I am leaning towards B. paint around where paint is to blend and keep a smooth look. No black against silver that's already there. I hope u guys get what I'm saying. :)

d. Install cf hood w/o adding wack paint job to it

j/k
it could look good if done right but to me painting a cf hood in any way is fugly.

^^^ I agree, why spend the cash for C/F when your just gonna paint it? My opinion is to leave it C/F and change the paint or graphics.

BTW: Maybe you should have gotten the c/F with the blue weave in it.

not to be an ass, but that's not an option for me. The black will look fucked up when I have blue graphics. And nope, they're not coming off. I want some paint on it to clean up body lines and help blend in my 3rd color. This is why I don't want to paint the whole thing- to leave some cf visible. I just don't want a black hood.

ummm, ok....

C/F Hood = black
Fiberglass Hood = Whatever color you choose

Why get a c/f hood just to paint over it and hide what it really is? You would've been better off getting a single vent fiberglass hood and color-matching it.

This is just my opinion though, do what you want to do

whats the problem with haveing 3 colors? I have 3 colors on mine and I think it looks fine. Its all comes down to personal preferences in the end.

>A)Paint everything except the raised vent?

Quite hard to do, and costly I would imagine

>B)Paint everything except the vent and inside the vent?

Still quite alot of black on the front end

>C)Paint the outside area around vent and the raised vent,
>leave the rest cf?

Once again, still alot of black on the front end that is going to grab your attention.

Either way you go, your still gonna have 3 colors unless you paint the whole hood, which according to you isn't an option.

I think you should lose the blue flames, and install the hood as is. Not to be a dick..but your car would look soooo much cleaner without the flames. Just my .02 cents

get the whole thing painted..what they do is spray the paint in the air and let it settle on the hood..so you can still see the carbon fiber..but it will have a blue tint to it..it will match your car perfect..silver and blue..if you get it painted the other way it will just cover up the carbon fiber..this way you get the best of both worlds..:thumbsup

fuck it. I can't get any help. I said I am painting some of it. Why not buy fiberglass? I wanted some cf showing out to go with my black. I don't want the whole hood black. I like the flames, they look better in person. They stay. I wanna paint some on the hood. I had 3 choices posted. I would appreciate it if you could just give your opinion on which of those 3 choices you think would be the best, or since it's so bad; the least ugly of the 3. If you haven't realized, people never like what I do to my car. I do it anyways. I guess this is no exception. Help me out. I do not wish to debate other options. I have narrowed it down and I am set in my ways. It's a hard decision and I wanted help. Can I get it?

Drastic- I am aware that there will be quite a bit of black showing. I want some cf showing. I have black, blue, and silver for my scheme, but I don't want a lot of black. I had this planned when ordering a cf hood. Paint some to minimize the black and blend with the existing silver on the car, but leave some cf b/c it's pretty. I wouldn't paint the whole hood, or else I would have ordered a f-glass hood. I want some cf showing.

guys i know what hes talkin aboot, just leaving some parts cf will set the look off definately. everyone wants something different. all steve (9D9) wants is a decent looking showcar, most showcars recently have been painting accents on the cf hoods, i personally think its cool, but to each man his own.

could you do ghost blue pearl flames you did not list it but may look cool. If I could see some photoshop then it would be easier imo.

hey 9D9, a few months ago in import tuner there was a blue eclipse with a tagra top. It had a cf hood, but the sides of the hood were painted blue to match the color of the car, it looks badass. imo it would look good if you paint your hood silver, but keep the scoop and the area inside it cf.

on the ghost flames- u guessed it. I am planning on leaving the vent and inside the vent (raised area) cf. I am thinking about having silver ghost flames or something like they are coming out of the vent. :) I wanna keep some money tho so I can try and get boosted when things get done. ;)

Hey man, I wasn't trying to tell you what to do, I was giving my opinions. Didn't know you were gonna get so damn offensive.

BTW: Just a little tip, don't always expect to get the answer your looking for; you asked a question and I gave my honest OPINION. I'm not trying to start anything, you just got all offensive and whiney when I gave you my opinion. Lighten up, nobody said you had to listen to me, build your car your way and I'll do mine my way.
37965, RE: how to paint up invader hood?
Posted by 9D9 MITSU RS, Jan-07-03 01:35 PM
wtf? I didn't get offensive. I am just saying. Anyone else asks a question, they get an answer. I put the 3 options I want and what will fly only. I just wanted to know which out of the 3 you guys thought would be best. I'm not willing to change things and reverse what I have done to the car. I am happy with it. Forward progress is only gonna happen, not reversing anything. I wasn't getting offensive. I am just saying, I wish people would try harder to answer a question instead of throwing stuff in that won't make a difference. People have said, "take off graphics" 50,000,000 times. They aren't coming off the car. Been thru that. Fangs- same deal. I don't care what you think about the car, but the cf hood and graphics aren't really even relevant to be talking about. Sure, I said I want the hood to look better with graphics. I didn't say I want to change graphics to suit the hood tho. It's the other way around.
All I ask is that you guys tell me which option is best? If you don't like any of them, then you have no information I really care to look at. It won't change my mind or help me in any way.

I'm sorry if I seem to be assing out here, but I just asked for u to help me out with narrowing my 3 choices down to 1. I didn't want to have 20 options. I have 3 now, and I want 1. That's it. Please don't make this thread turn into some BS claiming that I started a flame war or this or that. Help me out.

cut the guy a break dudes, he just wants you rhonest opinion on what to do, or how to do a certain thing, since when is asking a question about a car, on a board that specializes towards those cars, become illegal?

If you going to do the flames out of the vent paint the outside of it. Should look realy good when done no matter what you end up going post pics. Ohh and boost is over rated lol hmmmm wait I have a boosted daily driver.

I plan on doing flames on it later. I wanna do other stuff. I might like it without flames anyways. I don't want too much flame on the car. You can overdo things sometimes. I wanna be careful and think about it b4 I spend a lot of money. Besides, I do want to turbo. I wanna have some money for that. :) I'll get pics-probably new sig, etc.

How about painting the hood silver, but leaving flames on the hood as carbon fiber? That'd be preety sweet, imo.

I had actually thought of that a while back. That was the original plan, but shops here suck for the most part, so the good ones charge a lot b/c they know u don't really have other options if u want it done. I have a few ideas tho for later. I just wanna get the thing on and looking decent.

I know this isn't one of the options so chill out, but I think it was mentioned earlier. What about a blue carbonfiber hood? That would look hot.

I'm with Joshua97478 if your going to keep that flame scheme going. You probably don't want my opinion and you've heard it before but if the flames came off the car would look A LOT cleaner.

When are you going to get some decent skirts? Show cars can't have highwaters, get the Vis ones with the tasteful vent and that would look sweet. I just think all silver cars with no graphics look better than graphics. In fact, I don't like graphics at all on any car but to each his own.

I've had skirts for about a year and a half. I am getting my front redone, skirts going on, and the hood. maybe a wing too. So, :P! I already have the hood ordered, so blue weave is out of the question. The few blue weaves I have seen don't match my car. They're either purple or light blue. My car will be better soon. People wil still not like it, but I'm confident that I will convert some people to liking it. :)

bastard! you got the hood i have... im painting mine because i have no choice someone gave it to me because it was in an accident and i repaired it with some resin and im getting it paintined the color of my car, the whole hood... shouldnt be to hard to paint it, im also closing off the vent... just because i dont want water going down my engine...

I'm not gonna close the vent. water shouldn't be that bad. I dunno if I wanna just leave the area behind the vent cf, or the vent too. Probably the vent too.
