I ordered them the kit off eBay foe 55 bucks, not bad. My question is what are the best SPAL switched to go with it. I don't want to go through the trouble of getting the newer door panels (mines are all plastic '95 covers) I just ant 3 switches. I basically want to know who has them for the cheapest price, best style and most importantly... CAN I DO THIS MYSELF??? Just to let you know how skilled I am: I just learned how to change the oil on this puppy, i don't know how to take door panels off but I can install a deck and audio stuff in the REAR only. I got quoted $250 WTF!!! Ii think thats a scam, it was @ Sound and Alarm in Daly City, CA. Can anyone in the Bay Area, CA hook me up with a slick install? TIA -scirio

I would charge you $250 to do it as well. It's not extremely hard, but it's got a lot of time consuming shit. You have to run power wires to the switches and units...if you want to control the pass side from the dr side you have to run switch wires across the car. It's not easy. I just bought one myself and I have a set of GST door panels and switches coming in. I haven't figured it out yet, and the instructions don't help much.

I would probably put the buttons in the center console, like a few other cars have. That way, you only need one set of switches, and the wiring is considerably easier.

i will take some pics of mine as soon as my camera charges up. they will be on here by 11pm est tonight. it took me an hour to install both sides but probaly cause i used to do it for a living.

well i know the push pull switches wont fit there next to the cig lighter. mcubed has them and i was thinking about doin this, but its about an inch too long. i got these switches http://www.commandocaralarms.com/bigshot.asp?ProductID=90 and they fit perfectly. their lighted, and you only need to get 2 switches. i love my spal kit, ill never go back to manual windows! its not that bad hooking it up, but then again i did all the work on my car. runnin the wires throu the door to the inside of the car is kinda tough, especially on the drivers side. other than that, its pretty straight foward.

ya i got the push pull switches in the center console. i put mine where the ash tray was. makes sense if you're manual - you use your right hand for everything w/ your left hand on the wheel. wiring's a lot easier if you don't put the switches in the doors. but yea, running wires for the motors themselves is a pain. it's just a bunch more wires to run if you put the switches in there too.

to the original poster of this thread, did you get them hooked up? mcubed has me all hyped to get these joints but since you and i are in the same boat as far as installing these things, id like to know what you did (or if you had someone to do it for you). i just installed my led mirror lights all by myself with help from this forum... I'm still a novice though...

I personally want to use the skins from a GS/ESi tha I have. Can anyone post a write up of the install using these? I thought about a window kit. but want to know if this can be done using those skins/switches?

a shop quoted me 400 installed. not gonna do that. I dunno what to do. They said GS door panels would work, but not the switches.

for power ya wanna tap into the constant 12v at the ignition. unless you want your windows to only work with they key for some reason... then you'd tap into the acc. wire. the wires w/ the switches should be long enough to reach there if you're mounting in the center. i dunno 'bout door switches. you prolly gotta extend 'em. keep in mind to use thick enough wires when making your connection (as long as they're the same as the motor leads and the ones on the switches you'll be fine). the windows draw about 3 amps each but when it reaches the end of the track the current spikes to about 14 amps each. it's not like you'll be holding the switch down once it's fully up/down but you wanna be safe and not have wires melting if you do.

so yea, don't tap into the cig. lighter :P

aiight, i just finished installing this kit. i started at 11:00 am today (tue) and finished about 12 hours later. the ruffest parts were running the wires thru the door on both sides because of that blasted plastic piece over the wire hole. made for some time getting the wires thru.

i could not find a power wire in the car or where the ignition wire was so i just ran a wire thru the firewall to the battery. i used the ashtray light for the acc. wire to light the switches.

all in all it was pretty straight forward but time consuming. i am glad i did it though and i owe praise to 96eclipse and mcubed! you guys were very patient and understanding with my questions. i appreciate it! :thumbsup :thumbsup

note: the motors sound like any other factory motor to me.. not loud or noisy. i have the deluxe model...

the instructions that c9ome with the kit show it all! im tellin ya anyone can do it! if i can anyone can!! i put my switches down where the shifter is (in the earlier posted pic) and it looks damn good!
