When I open my hatch (after or during rain), the water doesn't stay in the tracks and it drips from my hatch into the trunk. It's not just drips, it is a significant amount. I can just not use the trunk when it rains, but that sucks. So, is there a tube or something that I can check to see if it's cracked, bent, clogged up? Is this a problem anyone else has had? Can it be fixed?

HAppens to all of us. Mine will go into the back seat and pisses me off, especially right after I wash my car. Just wait a lil whiles or put up with it.

Yea happens to me too. I just started putting all my shit in the back seat.

you need to clean the drain holes that sit on the rails of the trunk. a long pipe cleaner should work

if you pull off the interior panel on the drivers side of the trunk you have access to the tube in case you need to replace it. mine was kinked. it looked like the heat had permently molded the kink into it and i had to replace it.

What a sucky design.

The more I dig into the problems with this car (door handles, sunroof, trunk leak), the less I am impressed with Mitsubishi's design department.

If its like mine then its a window problem. On my rear hatch glass, in the upper drivers side the moulding is loose, like the glass has shifted over to the passenger side. This allows water to collect inside the hatch itself, and when you open it all pours out into the backseat. One of these days I am just gonna squirt some silicone in there and seal it up.

But yeah, start with the obvious and go from there.

i used to have this problem quite a bit when i first got my car.. the best solution i have for anyone is to check the condition of the weatherstripping on the hatch area.. if the car is old and any of the rubber seal part looks old it probably is old.. and should be replaced.. its a good 50ish at the dealership, but imo.. it was well worth replacing.. another thing is to also check the tubes for any kinks or clogs.. with those two things done.. and no real bad possible window seals then it should be ok. every car has its issues.. but if you take care of the car.. it will take care of you.
