ok, i am sick of my stock lookin engine bay, and i want to know how you made the valve color chrome (polished) or how what kind of paint do you use? obviously you have to take off the valve cover, does any one have a writeup for that? TIA

Step 1; Valve Cover Removal is simple 3 bolts front 2 bolts middle 3 bolts rear and just pop it off (it might be stiffly planted to give it a tug) make sure you keep up with all the gaskets 1 big edge one and 4 rings for spark plug wells... Now clean the heck outa the cover... just dont use paint thinner or cutter of any kind or it will soak into the metal and youll have to wait a good month before any paint at all will stick

Step 2; Decide if you want it polished or painted if you want it polished get a dremel and good sanding bit and go to work... If you wanted painted no problem any old Dupli Color paint will stand up to the heat (you dont even need the "engine 1500 degree kind" just some normal enamal... Either way you go id suggest clear coating it or it will get dirty very fast...

Step 3; Reinstalling it is easy just slap the bolts back in and use your own or a borrowed torque wrench to tighten the bolts to manual spec... DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT just tighten them on without using a torque wrench or over the period of about a week the valve cover will warp and you will never get it to stop leaking.

Bro why you pimping this car as your's........ that isn't your ride so why you being a fake ass and stealing someone else's ride that they put a lot of time and money into. I think you should have checked out the website you stole that pic from and realized that the car you pimping is part of the 4G63 family and it's not a 420A NA and i doubt that is makes 187 HP NA............. You give people a bad name and fuck up the respect that the rest of us deserve. We are the ones that have put the time and money into our cars not you...... why don't you stop the bullshit and step!!!!!!!!!!

If you polish have fun it takes alot of time to do it and the some of the places are a major PITA to sand. I am hand sanding mine any other way and you will end up with major waves in it.

Ok first off ChryslerKid thanks for some support good god, second off I NEVER said it was my car and it's not a 4G63 its a 420A Ill send you a pick of the engine bay so you can go slap yourself third off you can doubt 187 all you damn well wan't and you know what your right its not pushing 187 its a little improved seen as this week we took the liberty to install some new JE pistons now screaming at 198, anyway I have a slight problem if anyone out there can tell me... With the new pistons we keep getting alot of detenation in cylinder 3 its only in 3 1 2 and 4 are fine and running strong... Has anyone ever installed these pistons and had similar problems? If so please post an explination or send me a message we need to get this fixed ASAP... (also one more thing that might help after a good 2 or 3 strip runs we drop to about 8:1 compression then after cooling go back up to the normal 9.5:1 and again this is only in cylinder 3...)

So what if he posted a fake pic he is a human just like everyone else? Anyway I think polishing the valve cover looks good but like mentioned use sandpaper not a dremel or it will cause wavey looks. You don't need an awesome car to fit in around here. This is a somewhat mature forum - if someone is lieing, then they will be pointed out...but it's really not a big deal. There are people on this board that don't even own 2GNT's, and some who are completely stock just looking for info, but they still fit in just fine. This board is a source for information. Don't you agree that it would be tough for people to take advice and info from someone that completely lied about they're car and experience they've had with it? (Paint you havn't used/painted, suspension mods you've never heard of..)

Post your real car, repair your reputation and move on.. as long as you know it's not cool to steal pics of other people hard work and say it's yours...

p.s. Please don't go to another forum and say that my car is yours....I've invested a lot of money and work into it, I think I deserve the credit, right?

You know what your right I am using a pic off ebay =D (im guessing you noticed the iPIX Icon in the corner right but it is my car I bought it off ebay about 2 months ago and even though its an RS I am very proud to own it...Heres some more pics.... But they are old like I said I will get new ones of my mods soon. As for RSConversion it's aight man just treck on people are cool they will forgive and forget bro.





These are all off ebay from the Texas dealership where my car was purchased the car is now much cleaner and has a bit of mods (not to much but hey I am trying) also the engine bay looks 100% better with a strut bar, intake, painted valve cover, silicon hosing, wire loom, and more... Oh btw before you go hating on my car I am only 17 with a small job and school so gimmie a break.

damn, it's not a 420a motor! it's a 4g63 turbo motor. god, the stupidity is high today. maybe tomorrow will be better when a certain someone no longer post.

Ive been here reading all the posts about this topic and there is only about 3-4 posts about the valve cover question out of 30. See anything wrong with this. Yeah he lied, but he admitted it, after a lot of hell but he did admit it. Truthfully i could care less if the car is his or what he is claiming about it, because I only belive things when i see them. The picture of the car does nothing for me as far as asking a question about something, words do. I would hate to see a member leave the site because of a picture he posted of a car. You never know he might have some usefull info for us about a certain topic he or she might ask later down the road, but he wont be able to help us out because he got yelled at because of a car he posted. RS should of posted his own car because no matter if it is a moded out 2gnt or a bone stock 2gnt it still is a 2gnt. Thats why the site was made, for the love the the second generation non-turbo eclipse/talon. Like I said before, I could care less about a pic so to me it really doesn't matter much. I've been reading the things on this site for a while but only been a member since Aug. I think, and over the last couple of months I've seen a lot of people catching hell about this or that. Come on guys this is an information site. I know sometimes something needs to be said but it turns into about 20-30 people saying the exact samething over and over again. Yeah he most likely felt bad for being called out like that but once everybody jumped in he felt like he was no longer welcome on the board when he was. Im my opinion this topic should of been locked a long time ago but I'm not a moderator. I think it wasnt so much the matter that he posted a pic of another's car but that he acted really informed about things associated with the car. For me, giving out bad advice and mis-information is way worse that posting another's car. He posted about having an AEM standalone in his N/A, about cutting springs(Yikes!!) and how to rattle can spray your exterior. If someone trusting and not informed were to follow his ridiculous ideas, they would end up in a very bad spot after cutting their springs and spray painting their exterior and wasting 1600 on a computer they wouldnt be able to use without serious modifications. That is why I don't like what he was all about, not the picture.

Can you just use normal high temperature engine paint or is this stuff still gonna flake and crack off??

I'm guessing powdercoating the valve cover is the only safe way to go, right?

I know you can use High Temp engine paint, but the color selection is limited. Also you could use the same enamel that is used to paint brake calipers. It costs more, but it gives a nice almost powdercoated look, because you actually bake it on.
