Didn't want to jack a thread or anything!
The lock on my hatch seems to bind up at times. Maybe 4 out of 5 times and I've got a twisted, damn near broken key to show for it. x(
Any ideas if there's anything I can adjust or tighten before I pull the interior out of my car for naught?
I generally have to wiggle the key around to get it work, but I don't have the luxury of the trunk "pop" lever and I gots to get out and manhandle the thing. TIA!

im not too sure, but if you use my website link below, under the UNLV materials, i created a writeup describing the rear trunk locking mechanism and my difficulties with it.. it may not answer your quesiton, but it may help you come up with an idea to fix your problem...

Try pushing down on the hatch as you turn the key. Once you have the key turned, let the pressure off of the hatch. Don't push on the spoiler, by the way, it isn't meant to bear weight.

yea, i know exactly what your talkin about. just push down on the hatch repeatedly while you turn the key. some day im gonna get the hatch pop on my keyless entry and probably shave my keyhole. dont know why they do that, have the same semi-bent key.

Thanks as usual. I have the "poor boy special." The base model Talon. No trunk pop. No wing (it should work perfectly!), but I'm looking into the alarm system remote pop when I get wired up.
Funny thing too, I used my fiancee's key to get something out of the car today, and the thing's almost BRAND NEW! She don't know it yet, but she's getting my old twisted action. :7

i would highly recommend getting the keyless trunk opener ...i have a broken trunk lock thingy so instead i just added the keyless....its working good so far..

only thing i can say is the weight of the wing sometimes weighs down the trunk but other than that..i love it :D

Are you guys using the "Original" keys that came with the car? Because not even the spare key that Mitsubishi gave me will open up my hatch. Only my original works. Just a thought.

I've still got the originals. One's got that used look with all the brass or whatever showing around the tip, the other one's alright, but I got the overpriced replacements from Satan }> a couple years back and they worked just the same so I just continued witht the originals.
It sure is nice to hear that I'm not the only one with this irritating problem. I just love getting out to the car with a cart full of ish from the store and having to put it all in the back seat. :rolleyes
