when it gets dark tonight, i'll take some more pics. right now, the led's don't show up b/c it's so bright out. i pulled the car into the garage, with the garage door open, and turned on the parking light, and the ring lit up blue with led's. so it's turned out good and only cost $15.

35273, RE: my weekend project (new eyes) :)-

Good job dood. :thumbsup I noticed you made the intervals between each line pretty big. Did you just like that better? Can't wait to see this.

You gotta put up a writeup on how you opened the headlight and put it in there.
35275, RE: my weekend project (new eyes) :)-
Posted by mrlocalpimp, Nov-25-02 10:59 AM
Ok well....

Are you headlights 97+ Because my 95's dont have an inside housing like that.

Also, I dont see what it does. Wheres the LED? I know Im confused, so..... Its the headlight bulb that lights it up? Or is there an led? Sorry for the confusion......

the pictures where taken during the day so you really cant see the LEDs light up like shuwa said...more pics will be posted at night. I myself would of added more groves but it looks awesome at night!

its the stock 97-99 painted silver or white. the led is the circle where the high beams are
35279, RE: my weekend project (new eyes) :)-
Posted by shuwa29, Nov-25-02 04:31 PM
98 headlights painted silver. i used blue led's to light up the halo ring. the high beam light was just on as a deminstration. when i take the pics, i'll have them posted.

EclipseGTR29: yeah, i honestly didn't know what to go with. if i want to go back and do it with white led's, give me 2 hours, and they will be white
KaptainMyke: haha
EclipseGTR29: making the halo was a bitch though, and cutting all the little lines sucked ass

Can you pleez take pics of it at night, with just your low-beam headlights on?

I'm sure someone can photoshop the white LED color in there for ya to see how it would look.

Also if you can find a bucket or 2x4 or something to sit your camera on while you take the pix, it won't come out all blurry.

here's a quickie of what needs to be done:
for bumper removal to access headlight, go here... http://forums.2gnt.com/dcforum/DCForumID15/5036.html
for making the rings and ect...go here...
http://students.washington.edu/ashis/Creating%20Custom%20Angel%20Eyes.htm
as for taking apart the headlights, do this...
1. take off headlight and remove all bulbs,
2. place in over on cookie sheet for 5 minutes at 350 degrees,
3. wear gloves to remove headlights and open headlights,(i used a flat head screw driver to pry them open)
while your headlights are apart, i suggest removing the orange reflector, it's looks better without it. and if you wanted too, paint the housing as well.

after opening the lights, do u get water or fog in them? What did u use to seal them and how much?
35293, RE: my weekend project (new eyes) :)-
Posted by Ryan_Hes, Dec-01-02 03:43 PM
Seal them with silicone.
35294, RE: my weekend project (new eyes) :)-
Posted by mrlocalpimp, Dec-01-02 03:47 PM
For NE1 it may help,

When I opened my headlights to paint them black, I didnt trust the oven thing. I was afraid Id melt it all. I used a hair dryer and heated it inch by inch and pryed it open inch by inch.

Also, to seal it I simply heated the old silicone that was already on there and mushed the lens back on the housing. Worked fine.
35295, RE: my weekend project (new eyes) :)-
Posted by shuwa29, Dec-02-02 06:18 AM
that's exactly what i did my first time. inch by inch with a hair dryer. but i assure you, 350 degrees for like 5 minutes will do no harm. anything else, let us know.

I love the LED's but you know as soon as you hit the street cops will drop their beloved doughnuts to throw work orders and tickets at you... I might try that with a light light blue whiteish LED see if I can't get the SUPER BRIGHT HID look and a cool Halo effect...Ill be posting picks in about 2 weeks when I am finished (gotta order some LED's in special color)
35297, RE: my weekend project (new eyes) :)-
Posted by shuwa29, Dec-03-02 04:43 AM
with the headlights on, you can not see them. i have cuzo bulbs in my headlights and they blind the piss out of people. so there's no way with my headlight bulbs you will be able to see the blue unless you are within 5 feet. if i have the headlights off, then it's just a matter of time.

Nice man...What did you do to hold the ring in place inside the headlight? and what is the right size so I dont make the ring too big? Thanks in advance!

i used a can of cream milk to make them the size i needed. just a little bigger than a can coke. as for them staying in place in the headlights, then the clear housing is put back on, they just kinda chill there without moving. anything else, let me know.

this is cool as shit... very nice work. it doesnt look like it would fit very good in 95-96 headlights.
