35170, Would a 3g steering wheel bolt right up? Posted by EclipzeGamer, Nov-24-02 01:14 PM
Anyone know if it would, or what I would have to have to make it fit on our column? Thanks for any help.

I wanted to find that out also, I just don't have money to throw around on things that might end up not working

I was told as long as the spline is the same it will work. Now to find a cheep 3g wheel to test out.

get a momo or sparco imo. They look better than stock wheels and will probably feel better. I got the momo trek and it's a nice look and it feels great. The 3 is more edgy if I remember right. I think for all the trouble, you should go with an aftermarket wheel. They are lighter and feel much better.

I don't like the look of any of the aftermarket wheels I've seen, plus I don't want to give up my airbag.

I wouldn't wanna get hit by an airbag. Preference varies tho. Do ur thing man.

plus it's a federal offense to tamper with your airbag. if the cop is a prick, then he'll write you up. that's the problem with having an airbag and wanting an aftermarket steering wheel. plus some of em don't look that great IMO.

Ah, airbags aren't that bad. Its more that nasty smoke that fills the car afterwards, or the powder crap that burns little holes in your clothes lol. I like the 3g steering wheels, but to me the lines on the 3g steering wheels are too sharp for the 2g interior. But I'd like to see pics if someone does it, its hard to tell until you see it.

Didn't someone photochop the 3G wheel into the 2G interior? I seem to remember it looking nice. The 1G wheel fits the 2G column, but I am not sure about the 3G. Worth a shot if you know anyone with a 3G...
Found it... thanks Squid...

Here's the thread... http://forums.2gnt.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=read_count&om=4106&forum=DCForumID15
Seems that this last thread sunk without being resolved. Someone should just have the gonads to try it... ;)
Maybe I will try to find one of these wheels for cheap or just borrow one since my car isn't good for too much else at the moment...

Well, if I can get a 3g wheel dirt cheap, i'll guinea pig it. Only one I've found the guy wanted 300 for it.

I'm pretty sure a 3G wheel would fit most DSM wheels will fit cuz I just bought a nardi steering wheel hub and all it sez is mitsu on it haha now to see if it fits when I get it in the mail. I think most DSM wheels look like ass anyway. I don't need no stinkin airbag I got a 3 point harness.
But... I think the best DSM stearing wheel is the 1g i love the feel of it and it doesn't look half bad. I should go the junkyard and grab a 1G wheel for 10 bux but too late I bought a nardi wheel :)

I don't think removing the airbag is a federal offense. I don't think it really matters to them as long as you aren't selling the car with it removed. I have been thru traffic stops and they look right at it. No problems. One cop even complimented my harnesses, and the wheel. :)

i think no air-bag might fuck with your insurance.
and a face full of airbag is alot better than having your skull cracked open on the steering wheel, or eating a face full of windshield IMO :P :)

Hard or eat a face full of windshield if you where a seat belt. Or better yet a 3 4 or 5 point harness. I took a safety class for figher fighter training a GM about Air Bag safety and the GM REP said to take ABS over and Air Bag if you had the choice. Plus, i have a friend with bad burns on his arms from an air bag

Can't you use the MOMO wheels off the Subraru's?
They look pretty nice. They are leather wrapped. They have an airbag. and..
And most important they are MOMO :-)
Remember, MOMO steering wheels were in stock Subaru's so you can goto a Dealership or goto a Junkyard, and ask how much they want..
