34070, How to make autometer gauges indiglo....
Posted by Matt_95tgs, Nov-11-02 01:45 PM
I just saw and posted on a thread in the general section asking this question. I figure many of you already have done this, but for those of you who havent and wanna see how it looks, heres a pic. I have Autometer Phantom gauges and I just replaced the bulbs that come with them. I used PIAA blue LED 194/168 style bulbs. The pic really doesn't do them justice. They match my reverse indiglo gauges perfectly.

Just buy the blue covers for the bulbs in the gauges and boom you got indiglo.

baaah! I had those covers and they looked like crap compared to the LED's. Like I said the pictures dont do them justice... They look completely indiglo in person.

The bulb covers aren't nearly as bright overall, or as dark blue as the ones Matt has.

wow.. if the pics dont do it justice.. which it usually doesnt.. then they must look pretty damn sweet... ive never opened up the gauges.. is it just screw off the face, remove the bulb and swap in the new?

On the back of the gauges, there is a black harness which hold the bulb. The harness unscrews, and you can pull the bulb out.

Yea, the housing is on the back of the gauge. It is a black piece that twists and pulls out. Once you have that out you just tug on the bulb and it will pop out. I got the LED's here:

They're a bit pricey, but definately worth it if you like the indiglo look.
