i made a deck outta the area in my backseat (havent developed the pix yet) but anyways,

one peice of 3/4"wood lies horizontal, and i .had. two supports that were 5"x6" chillen to hold the other peice up and parallel (or atleast close enough to) that were naild flush to the edge of the peice of wood, and rested directly behind both of the rear seat bottom puller clips....

one of the supports brok, and i wanna fix fer good.

i am open to suggestions on a better way to support the wood. u think i should nail/screw in more supports?????
theres gotta be diff way....

edit: teh only weight taht i have been puttin on it is teh weight of two amps, a briefcase, books, etc... nuthin "too" heavy, imo...

Damn, I wish I had pix of mine so it would be a little easier to explain. I basically just have the amp rack sitting on pegs with only the front locked in. I used a set of o-ring screws that snapped right into there the where the seats used to lock in. That way I can just pull the tabs and the amp rack will come right out. Then the pegs on the bottom side are just cut to what ever length they needed to be to get the thing level. I'll try to get some pix tonight to show ya better..

well, if u do, there is a hole there... i covered the hole w/wood and covered the wood w/carpet (not that the carpet matters)... anyways, i wanted the hole to be covered by something that was "flat" so instead of just lying the wood down, i need to use supports under it to keep it flat...

now i drive rather spirited, turning at 50+mph, etc.... so things move around a tad... my sub box has brackets at each corner holding it in place, but the "deck" for the backseat isnt "flush" with the sides in the back seat area (still tryin to decide on hackin up my old rear panels, or fiberglassin sum shiot)....

so anyways, i need ideas on how to support the wood that will lie flat in my back seat area....

ok, so let me see if i have this right, you have a piece of wood being supported on the back by the little "lip" in between the hollow metal swoopy thing between the struts and where the backseat used to be, and the front is sitting on the front part of where the backseat used to be? so its sitting at an angle sloping forward right? and not screwed down anywhere? and you had structural supports where the "butt" area was beneath where the rear seat was kind of in the middle of the wood? sorry, its hard to put that kinda stuff in words;)

basically, you want the piece secured, so heres some tips: the front area, along the same line that the factory release tabs are can be drilled and screwed into. theres nothing under there to hit. further back is the gas tank, so i wouldnt start drilling around there.;) the back "lip" can be drilled and screwed into as well, but you might need to be careful. it might be better to attach it somehow to the "hollow metal swoopy thing" that runs between the strut towers. if you arent concerned about cosmetics, you could go to lowes, home depot, etc, and buy some plumbers strap. is like 1/16" thick metal "tape" with holes in it (also known as radio backstrap). its flexable but strong, so you could attach it to the wood and run it to another factory mounting point (around the back speakers somwhere?) to hold the wood in place.

gracias for your suggestion... to clarify, the metal deal that sits between the trunk and the back seat, i removed that, the thing between the struts... if you remove that peice, there is still frame/body/metal chillen where the peice screwed into. anyways, that metal is raised up about 3" from both sides (the trunk and the back seat portion of the car)....

the wood i have, rests against that metal peice that divides the rear seat and the trunk. it is about 1/2" flush from the middle of the trunk to the edge of where the back seats used to be (where the two clips are)... my old supports actually were chillen directly behind the clipse, and im sure that when i had to brake hard, they broke... or sumthin like that...

im just lookin for a good way to brace it, and not have to worry about it thru the 50+mph corners.........
