33466, Paint supplies needed for painting bumper Posted by Semperboost, Oct-31-02 06:04 AM
Me and a buddy of mine might plan to paint my bumper at the auto hobby shop and he has had a little experience painting automotive stuff. He said I need Primer, Paint, Reducer, Hardener, Flex Additive, and Clear Coat. Does that sound rite? Does anybody know how much I need of each to paint a stock bumper? Thanks for the replies ahead

The hardner and all that stuff comes in small containers. You will need about a quart of paint. Do you know what type of paint to use? The paint store is going to ask. I don't want to sound like a dick, but be sure you're buddy knows what he's doing before you start. I suggest a single stage paint, but he should practice first b/c it's easy to use but can be f*cked up easily and def won't look good. I used some new stuff from PPG that doesn't require flex additive and was single stage. I don't have the can in front of me so I couldn't tell you what it is. Make sure that you have the bumper fitted and really prepped well or it will show esp in darker colors, like black.
