Well I put a junkyard hatch on my car and the defroster doesn't work. I get power to one side of the window using a test light, but the other side is a no go. I was wondering where I should start looking. Is it more likely to be in the glass? Is one sides plug possitive and one neg.? I can't figure this out and I need my rear def. in the winter here. Should I tear down the hatch chasing wires or what?
Also my rear hatch does not sit flush with my rear body panels any ideas on that one?

i would assume that current is passed through the thin wire thing in the glass, causing it to heat up, and naturally defrost. if you read voltage on one side and not the other, im willing to bet its in the glass somwhere.

i've got the same problem. supposedly there's these repair kits for the little lines on the window. You'd have to find the break in the connection first though.

Well I talked to Corbin and he suggested I put a 12volt source to the window and ground the other side to see if it heats up. Then I can really start the search for the problem. If anyone out there has a test light do me a favor and hook it up to each side of the window defroster. I got a light on the driver side and no light on the passenger side. I wonder if everyone elses tests the same way?
