I just picked my new VIS Xtreme GT hood and I have some quick questions: 1. Is there anything special I need to know about drilling the holes for my pins? I heard you have to be careful when doing this or the hood will crack around the hole, any truth??
2. Will my factory heat shield be able to keep the heat from damaging my hood or do I need something better?
TIA!!

I have had a cf hood on my car for a lil while running a header and no heat shield. No probs thus far. As far as drilling, you do have to be careful. As far as the proper way to do it though, i have no clue :p.

i have experience in doin this, i have hooked up 3 diff sets of pins on mines...
first off, hit up my lil howto page, i think the hood pin install writeup is on the page... http://seangordon1.tripod.com/how.html
i will say be careful when drillin, make sure the top of the bolt/pin that will stick thru the hood is low, low as in if the hood was closed... the angle will be messed up if they are sitting where the will be after you tighten them..i hope u understood that...
just be careful, a drill bit, use a small one, then a lil larger... if u have a dremel, they work wonders (after the hole is there)... be careful, ***WEAR GLOVES*** or you'll be hands will be hurtin for a cuple days.... i didnt have a dremel when i first put on my pins, i only had a file, and it took a long ass time, and it made a lotta noise..
good luck.. hit me on email if u need special direction.. ;-)
