Here's tha dilly, tha skizzy, tha 411, tha trilla.....I have 16's and coilovers now....I was thinkin for show purposes of selling the 16's and skunk2's and savin up for air switches and 18's or 19's.....I jus need input on what might be a better way to go that i haven't thought of. It WILL be a show car, i care not about go, with this vehicle. I have a hood and front end, and my friend at a body shop said i could trade him one of my hoods for fitment and paint :thumbsup.....So methinks i am gonna stick with that and go for the air ride.....unless i can be pursuaded into sumthin better.....All input, good or bad views, are welcome....TIA :thumbsup

Unless you are really serious about hitting a lot of shows I wouldn't go with bags. For one, you lose the car as a daily driver. A car on bags handles like shit, not to mention that if you drove everyday on them you wil wear them out and basically waste your money. And second, I don't think it is necessary. There are plenty of show cars out there on springs and coilovers.

I was under the impression that air cylinders were good for daily driving.....My car will only be out for 6 months or so at a time. And even then it won't be my commuter every day....About how long do cylinders last on a daily driver anyway?

Well never having been around a car on bags I have no idea on durability. but personally I wouldn't trust them to drive on them everyday. And even if you wanted to drive on them everyday, your car is still going to handle much differently then before. I mean just think, you wil be riding on bags filled with air. The car will sway and bounce.

Another thing to think about is insurance. I doubt they would cover you nor your car.

They all tend to leak and have probs after a while. If you already have coilovers, I would stick with them. It's only cool at a show to play with the bags while people are standing around, but not worth it...

ok air bags, my good friend has them on his accord, he been driving with them for 8 months now, very cool to play with and watch but he hated how he couldn't turn without the whole car going to one side and hitting the side skirt, at first he did start to have leaks and he got high pressure hoses and he was all set with that, it was cool at car shows, we even made our own little shows when we went to eat like at burger king, people driving by just pull in and watch my friend play with his air bags and when waiting at red lights we played with the air bags, o man I wish I had a camera to get the peoples faces watching us. now he is selling them for 1300 and he will put them in for you anyone in the rhode island area that would want them, let me know

From what I've heard the ride will be as soft as stock, maybe softer.

As far as durability if you get good quality bags you shouldn’t have any issues. Most 18-wheelers ride on air bags. My dad is a truck driver and I've never heard him say that the truck is going in to the shop because of the air bags. The reason semi's have air ride is because they are soft and the truck can be leveled rather than relying only on the warehouse people evenly distributing the load. Most of the semi’s I’ve seen have Goodyear air springs.

correct me if im wrong, but i think that only the cabs in 18's are on bags, i dunno that the entire truck suspension is, cuz when you pass one and it hits a bump just the cab moves a lil.

The front axle is usually on leaf springs and the two rear axles on late model 18s are on bags. You are correct that the cab does have a suspension system of it’s own. The trailer may or may not be on bags seems like most are since like I said it allows the driver to level the truck regardless of load.

First Off, you can't go with air bags, you can go with strut bags or air cylinders. Air cylinders are the way to go. They bolt in, no cutting required, and the ride is excellent when accumulators are used. As for the durability and daily drive-ability... It's just like the engine in your car, if you take of them and due some routine maintenance they'll be fine and never give you trouble, but if get 'em and forget 'em then you'll have trouble. We've done tons of adjustable suspensions on cars and trucks, Air is the way to go. Get big valves, big ports, dual tanks and compressors, and I promise you that those 10 switches will be your best investment.

BTW: I'm currently installing my air kit on my '99, I'll take pics when we're done. (Should be by Friday)

What is going on dude. I have had Air cylinders for about a year and a half..... sitting in my room! I so want them on for many reasons. One. My kit is scraped everyday going into work.
Two. My suspension Sucks. BUMP BUMP
Three. They are so much fun.

The only problem I have with them is getting them on. POST THOSE INSTALL PICS OR SEND THEM TO DAN@WICKEDSTYLZ.COM. I want mine on!!!!!


Last Note. GET THE AIR CYLINDERS,"look at me adjusting my coilovers, squeak, squeak, well my car is lowered. Lets go."

Like i said....this car will be show....so racing on them won't be done, but spirited driving will every once in a while ;). I have no prob with maintainance and the car will be stored in the winter and very cold weather. I was set on cylinders if i went with air, or hydraulics

Well if you're set on air cylinders, get them LAST. After you have a full kit and paint job, rims, turbo, interior etc...the wow factor is not worth as much as the other basic components I listed...
