32300, I've decided to repaint my car... But, I have some questions. Posted by 1998EclipseRS, Oct-09-02 01:59 PM
Alright, first of all how much is it for a complete GOOD repaint? I'm wanting to repaint it black but I want some pearl in it too so you might factor that in too. I just can't stand looking at the fucking swirl marks and bullshit that stupid asses (My FUCKING brother) Leave behind for me to stare at. I'm SUCH a perfectionist, My car must shine like a diamond in a goats ass at all times. If not, Something fucked up is happening, I seriously wash my car once a week. and wax it 2 times a month. I just cant be happy with the swirls. Maybe there is something I can do besides a repaint? like a really good buff and another coat of clear?! I don't know give me some options guys.
-TIA-

DAMNIT! I keep hitting backspace and it takes me back to the thread! It keeps deleting my shit!
OKAY, I don't really wax my car this much, the swirls have gotten better since I've been waxing it. I need more suggestions, like the wax I should use, I've used Gold Class, Zymoil, 3 Step, all the good shit, is there any secrets I need to know? I just want the car perfect and I know it will never be.
And I forgot to mention, Is it worth it to just get the clear coat respray? I don;t have any deep scratches or anything, I do have some rust on the edge of my pass. side door, I don't know, the more I think of it the more I think I need to just redo the whole car. I'm rambling.....Just keep the ideas rollin' in so i know what options I have
Thanks.

I remember seeing your car and I thought it looked pretty good. If you take it to a really good detailer they can usually make the swirls go away. They will have to buff it with a foam pad, and rotary buffer. Like I said it better be a GOOD detailer cuz if they don't know what they are doing you will come out with more swirls than you started with. Also if the swirls are really bad you could have them wet sand the car then rebuff it. This gets a bit scary depending on how thick your clearcoat is. A good detail shop should have a tester to tell you how thick the paint on your car is and if its too thin then they probably won't even touch it.
You could always try the detail shop first and fall back on the paint job!!

Isn't your car black?? If so then that is THE toughest color to keep all non-swirly n shiznit.

Sorry man I do my own stuff.....I was a detailer for about 4 years. I dunno of any around town. You might just want to call around to some of the performance shops or car audio shops to see where they would suggest or where they might send a show car.
