ok, about your ac button. I didnt know this but we actually have 2 leds in there! One lights up the clear rectangular piece on top and another smaller one lights up the snowflake outline. For some reason, the snowflake bulb on mine must be burned out cause it never lighted up. I hooked yours up though and i see blue and orange, i was like, WTF!! So i took it apart even more and noticed it.
So what do you want me to do? This bulb is microsmall and there is no way i can fit a blue bulb in there. I can just tape off a small opening where the light shines and then the orange will be gone.
And with the birghtness of the bulbs, i got the ones from radio shack and the bulb is still gonna be brighther than your hvac. Its just because all the light is concentrated in that one small spot. Its not nearly as bright as mine though.
So lemme know what u wanna do. If im bored, im gonna see if somehow i can fit another LED to light up the snowflake and see if i can get it to work. But then its gonna cost u an extra 3 dollars for an extra led. lemme know.
And i told all you other people to read this in case your thinking about doing your AC button. You need the change the top bulb you can see when you take the guts out and there is one under the "motherboard" you need to do something with..
btw where do you cash money orders? can i just go to my bank or something?

well, try to get the snowflake to ligh up blue. I send you the $3 do you have paypal? if not I will just send you another MO. BTW you can cash a postal money order at any bank! Keep working on it so it looks good with the rest of the HVAC..and thanks for the time your putting into it. I hope you get many more lazy DSMer's to follow my lead :)Maybe you can find like tint to shade the light to match thew HVAC..I rather wait until you figure out how to get it to match. maybe if you put black maker on tape so the light will still go through? I like the tint idea better though. I bet a auto tinting place would give you some scraps to use....camera film?....a crappy casette tape that im sure you never use?.... :wary

ok, i'll see what i can do. Be patient though. Another problem i realzed might come up is the shade of blue you currently have in your hvac. Because i bought 3 diff. brand led's that said they were blue and all were different shades of blue. So what might end up happening is that the blue i put in your ac is not gonna match the blue you have in your Hvac. Theres only one solution to this and that is, i just send you back the ac once im done. You see how it matches up. Its its off, then u can just send another 3 dollars and i will send you another led with the same shade blue that i used. Sound good?
I will try to get the snowflake to go blue but i make no promises. it is a very very small spot to work in

you can get the blue led's in the 3mm size, but the ones i got from radioshack back last year or so didnt quite light up blue at all.. i accually used a green led i ripped out of my computer case and rigged it into that hole that you are referning to... it will be hard to rig up a reg 5mm led in that spot, but i think its possible to cut open that hole to make it fit.. also.. if you are good with sodering try sodering the resistor to the accual microboard inline with the power source .. just be sure to make a cut in between the line on the microboard where the resistor will go. i liked this idea due to its ease at just plugging and playing kinda thought.
i have pic that i can show you that should help.. my pics of the ac button are not the greatest, but have many others that will help with your project(s)
also.. yes there are two diff ac buttons that have come equipped in our cars.. and its not specific to being a rs or gs it seems.. one allows the bi-color led that will change color with two switch settings for econo mode ac and full blast ac (not sure if this is controlled by the button or something else in the car..) and the other with a single color led that has the one setting full blast ac setting..
and then there is the small light that lights up the button and that is the one everyone can change out easily.. i managed to rig up a green led in mine and in a friends and in his i also changed out the indicator led for a red one since he had the single led with single mode ac...
neways if you need help with this.. hit me up and ill help with what i can.

ahhh im a friggin genius!!!!!!! not really but i feel proud of myself. I was able to light both the clear rectangle and the snowflake with 1 led. Took a lil more work and some drillin but it works and the shine is jusssssssstttt right. Man i feel good.
iamnotwhoiam, thanks for your help man. If what i just did now didnt work i was gonna try to find them smaller leds. Aint that one for the snowflake so fuckin small.
Man i feel good. Now onto getting my fuel pump to not fuck up!! wish me luck

http://66.25.58.203/PhotoAlbum/Cars/Jason/Projects/Dash%20Lights.htm
there are a bunch of pics i took when i was messing with my stuff.
i have since then replaced my left side buttoms due to some problems with how i had rigged up the lightin in the cruise control.. (is a pain to do that one..)
but the pics can be used for helping out with future projects and helping with ideas and ways of rigging up some stuff.
enjoy.. and feel free to ask questions as i dont really have much description to go along with the pics and such.
