3089, Should I Change Car Colors for $800 More? Posted by eclipse804, Apr-17-01 07:46 AM
Hey guys. just looking for some opinions. Would you spend an extra $800 to change car colors inside and out? I'm already going to get a full kit painted plus fenders. But right now I can't afford anything after all I spent on my car. You think I should save up so I can change the whole color?
I have Magenta Gray pearl right now and am thinking of a blue-ish color, either sky blue with purple or white pearl, or a darker navy blue with some blue or purple pearl. I really want a yellow with gold or white pearl, but it is way too flashy to cops for me to drive around LA. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't I have the Magenta Grey Pearl also and I really like the way it looks, and it's a pain to change the door sills etc.
If I were I'd go to a darker grey... I've seen Avengers in a nice Blue Grey Pearl that look sweet. Or maybe a nice darker Maroon.
Just think what $800 could buy in mods...

Unless of course you want to sell me your side skirts and door caps. Then they are painted already for me and you can paint it any color you want ;-)

Hehe I "might" actually sell the skirts, but I'm keeping the door caps with my blitz type 2 side skirts. My stock side skirts were actually painted less than a year ago because they had some scratches from a curb, so they are in near perfect condition. I'll let you know if I want to sell it, but its kind of a hassle to deal with shipping...

Hey, they don't look 'bad' without the door caps. So if you sell let me know. I'd love em.

I like the dark maroon too....obviously (look at my car). If you put some nice pearl color in it it would be really nice!!

Stay with the dark gray but add some more blue pearl to it. And then get a Carbon Fiber hood with some blue pearl with the extra money.

That's a good idea, but you know what, it costs the same to paint the car as just to shoot a clear pearl. That's because you still have to sand down the whole car and tape it up. Its maybe only 100 dollars cheaper for the paint materials, but overall, its still almost the same cost. So I think its more worth it to either stay the same and save money, or change completely different than stock...

Me and you have the same tastes. I want Altezza blue but i also want a light metallic blue. I can't decide. I am getting my wheels powdercoated graphite, what color looks better w/ dark wheels? Oh well, we can talk this weekend.

Ya its really hard to decide. One part of me wants a custom color, then another side doesn't want to deal with the hassle and costs. Also, even though the engine bay is painted, we don't remove the entire engine so parts of it will still be the stock color. Ya hopefully there will be some freshly painted cars this weekend to check out - I haven't been there in a while. If anyone wants to join us, me and Ian are meeting at the body shop in El Monte on Saturday. E-mail me at eclipse804@hotmail.com for more info...
