I wanna paint my side mirrors silver to match my wiper arms & to go with my paint scheme. Is there anything that I need to know before I do it. I know i need to sand the plastic to get a rough surface but what grit sandpaper should i use? Do i need a primer? Any tips would be greatly appriciated.

It's going to be hard as hell to get inside the mirror to paint also. I'm not sure if you can pop out the glass or not. I'll let eclispe804 explain painting :)

why dont you just tape up the mirror best u can and spray all over that shit... if u get the tape all over the mirror u can just spray all around it. that should be good i would think??

what about me! lol i painted my car too! lol get 600 wet/dry sand paper and wetsand it intill it looks like you made it a white tint... but before you do that tape up your mirrors with masking tape then sand but put the masking tape inside like fold them inwards and just make sure you cover the whole thing up then take it there and get them painted lol

what i did was just leave the inside black. put double sided tape around the edges flate and stuck it on a piece of paper and painted around it. looks good. but then again i only did it cause i have zero patience.

You just tape up the actual mirror with masking tape. Then you hang the mirror in the air by attaching where the nuts would go (you'll see after you take it off). Then paint carefully, and you will be able to get paint into the edges on the inside of the mirror so it will look fine. It's hard for someone to do themselves without a proper place to hang it etc. I would suggest getting a body shop to do it if you want it done good.

I have a white eclipse. Not sure the paint code, but where could i buy some spray paint to match? i want to make sure the mirrors match as close as possible. On a side note, how hard is it to paint the door handles to match....

look in the yellow pages. find a auto paint specialist store. they should be able to find your paint code, mix it and put it into a spray can if you want.
