I just took apart my gauge in my OZ 99 GS and I notice that some of the bulbs have those pastic comdom looking things on them is there any web sites i can get some red ones. If not any ideas on how i can make a custom one?

Even if you replace the orange covers with red covers, it will sitll shine through orange. The back of the gauges have a think transparent orange layer of plastic that you have to sand off with sand paper in order to allow different colors to shine through. I plan on sanding mine once I get on my feet financially and go buy some supplies; then placing a clear blue <;astic sheet behind the gauges to yield a blue illumination. Be careful with the front of the gauges tho, our gauges are nice and silver :-)[br />

I just did this over the weekend. I used the method of taking finger nail polish and q tips to wipe off the orange paint. I didnt even have to remove the needles. They are currently all clear and I put Blue LEDs in place of all the little bulbs in the back. I got over zealous thought and accidentaly broke about half of my fuel gauge needle off... DOH!! Anyway they look pretty sweet but I am going to go back and paint the backside blue to give it more glow. Anyone know where I can get a new fuel gauge needle??

Finger nail polish worked?

Sorry my bad. - I meant to say finger nail polish remover. I put aluminum foil over the gauges themselves in case i dripped some. Then i just took the q-tips and dipped them in the remover, and slowly rubbed it between the bottom of the needle and the aluminum foil. After a couple of seconds you will notice it starting to come off. Just takes patience and a steady hand. Thats how i broke the tip off the Fuel Gauge needle... I was too hasty.
