well, 2 weeks into my first fiberglass front and it finally happened, I knew it was gonna happen, but got a crack on the very bottom (not noticeable from the front), I've heard of people being able to easily repair them, does anyone know a link or anything I could go to find out how? thankx! and thankfully it hasnt been painted yet, so I was thinkin of layin a layer of glass on it, sanding then painting, what y'all think?

please tell me you're not driving around with an unpainted body kit on....

I ALWAYS tell people to drive it around for a week or two before you get it painted. It is way easier to fix when you don’t have to worry about painting it. When you get the hang of not clipping and scrapping things then get it painted.

My very first bumper lasted about 2 weeks because I would hit stuff the same as I did w/ the stock urethane one.

You may not scrape w/ the stock but w/the new one on your car it may be siting lower than the stock one and your going to scrap stuff you normally wouldn't.


To answer your question:

You can go get some fiberglass and resin. Apply that to the back of the bumper to hold to the crack together. Sand the hell out of the front side where the crack is and fill that w/ fiberglass or bondo and stand smooth. Make sure you patch the backside w/ enough to keep the crack from re-opening. You now have a week spot on your bumper, if you hit something again that place will probably crack again if it isn’t thick enough.

Driving around for a week or so with an unpainted kit is a good thing, allowing the bumper to flex before painting, so the paint won't crack.

that's what everyone's told me, to drive around a bit with my first kit to get used to it, that's why I've been ghetto and not painting it, but thankx for the help man, I'll try and lay about 3-4 layers, it should hold well
