30291, F'ing lower door hinge someone please help
Posted by Kirby, Sep-03-02 02:08 AM
My door is hanging low and I have found out why. There is something wrong with the lower hinge. And now it's making this horrible metal on metal sound when I open it. I have looked at it and can't see a way to get any tools in there to do anything with it. Can someone please tell me how to get to it to fix this my self. If not where should I take it to satan or a body shop. I really need some help on this one because it's even messing up how my window works.

I have a similar problem...the metal on the door is rubbing on the metal on the fender and it's taking the paint off and making loud noise! :(

Seriously people, if anyone has had any experience with this, please advise us. I think the door needs to be raised a little, but I don't know how.

TIA!

I don't think that this problem would require replacement of the hinges...just an adjustment. I'm actually kind of sure about that. I just don't know how to adjust and was wondering if anyone had any knowledge...

maybe kirby could use the hinges though...his problem sounds a little different than mine...

I had my doors adjusted at a body shop. I hope that helps.

you can adjust them yourself. loosen the hinge bolts, adjust tighten. if its making a metal on metal noise you might have to replace that hinge.

you MIGHT have the same problem i did, for some reason, where my door hinge connected to the body, the 2 bolts, there was a crack between them causing it to flex all over, my dad welded it for me and now it's fine, that noise is more than likly your "door checker" the plastic thing that keeps the door from swinging way open. it's prob aby making all the noisy, open your door and watch it pop, take the kick panel off, get down there and see if there's a crack! if it is, just set the door up on something weld it, and push it down to where it needs to be so it can line up right and it's all done!, u might need a new door checker, eventually mine broke and makes hella noise

Ok well the bolts that hold my lower door hinge to the body are loose. so when it flexes it allows the whole base of the hinge to rub the body. The bolts that you can see from the outside of the car through the crack when you open the door are the ones that are loose. I can't get a scoket in there to tighten them back down to the body. I bought a socket with a swivell attached but it won't get in there because of the way the fender is made. There is this little edge that keeps the socket from getting flush onto it. Isa this making any sence to anyone out there. If I don't make sence then you guy's can't help me. So please let me know if you understand what I'm talking about.

if i remember i had to take the bolts of the fender near the door, 3 of them i think. then you can pull the fender away from the door hinges.
