Im getting my whole damn car painted and need some colors. I want to do darker silver than what I have now.

Pictures are really hard to tell the different tones in silver. I'd get silver with blue pearl or silver with purple pearl. Why are you repainting your car? HOw about a totally different color like gunmetal or gold/

Well at my school they can do whle cars for cheap but dont want to do the jams/engine etc...

I partied at the autobody guys place the other day and they said they will. My car has HUNDREDS of rock chips. My front is already F***ed.

I like the Audi TT's silver. I think they have a few different silvers or else TONS of pearl because some look like my silver and some look almost grey.

Oh yeah also my skirts are a hair different color, my doors are a hair different, my rear is a hair different, and my front and fender are a hair different.

What's our OEM silver called? Does it have a special name or anything? I want to spray paint my center tailight piece and want to get it to match as best I can

Go to a auto paint store and give them your code. Its on the sticker in your bay. Its silver minden pearl. The shop will custom mix you a can for about $12.

i would go to some car lots like bmw, mercaides, and other high end modesl and get some color codes you like

i know what you mean. i live in a small town but its where all the rich people retire. so we have one of every dealership in town, but there horribly over priced.

baby blue with purple pearl! maybe silver and purple pearls to make it more silver-toned. I really like the new stock eclipse color. That light bluish silver color.

I would steer clear of silver, b/c it will look too subtle and close to stock. It won't be worth getting a paint job after there isn't really a difference. If a difference is what u are going for. That color looks too close to me. Maybe you should go with pearl white with blue pearl or something. That'd be kinda kewl. Maybe pearl white w/ pearl silver.

There's no such thing as a silver pearl (I used to think there was, but you can't buy a PPG silver pearl as far as I know). Most silver cars will use a bit of white pearl or blue pearl in it. I like that Audi color. I would probably get it. Just realize that colors look a LOT different on different cars. For example, the gunmetal gray from a Ferrari looks a lot more aggressive on a Ferrari than on my friend's integ. Also, 9D9 is right about it looking close to stock, but slightly different. Since you don't want to do the jams, it is smart to stay with a silver based color (but it will still be obvious when you open the doors or pop the hood).

When I had my old MR2 painted, the shop put a gold pearl and a blue pearl into it and it looked pretty good. See if the piant shop can add more than one type of pearl. I don't think you can really see it from the pic though. I'm behind my buddies Avenger!

atleast get maaco to do the jams that way they will match. I think they charge $70 per door jam.

I often have people asking me if I have a custom paint job with added pearl. They say it looks like a blue tint at night, and sometimes they think I have some kinda pearl white or some shit in there somewhere. It shines out pretty bright. Never really paid attention to other silver ones. At night, mine gets a blue tint to it. My car was also bought brand new. My label in the door jam says all this shit. 1999 RS hatchback WHITE. Under the hood, it has the correct paint code tho.
