29783, grill mod & painting headlight... double question!
Posted by Stealth915, Aug-25-02 04:04 PM
ok, i wanted to put a grill behind my 95 RS bumper for a while now, but never had the time to take the bumper off, but now I do, and i was wondering what section I can find the "Gutter Guard" stuff in Home Depot. I asked an employee there and they said they never heard of it.

another question: since i'm gonna be taking the bumper off, and most people say you can take out the headlights without the bumper, and other people say otherwise, I figure i'll take out my headlights too, remove the amber, and paint the headlight. I read in a post about how someone used the factory color spraypaint to do his headlights. I have a 95 silver RS, and I was wondering how much it would cost to get a can of tha stuff, or if there's any other paint that would give me the came effect. Thanks guys

I never took my bumper off to put my mesh in. Just pop out the black plastic air dam behind the bumper(5 plastic screw and anchors, just pop em out and don't pop 'em back in afterward), and slide the gutter guard up there and zip tie it wherever you can. The side vents are trickier, just bend the g.g. around the shape of the hole (on the inside of the bumper), and use some kind of bonding agent to glue it to the inside of the bumper.

The guy at Home Depot was an idiot, try asking another guy. I think it should be in the roofing or lumber department somewhere. They keep it upright in a cardboard box (at least at 2 different local ones here).

Hope that helps

about removing the bumper or not i just installed projectors two days ago and you can take the headlights off w/out removing the bumper but i found it so easy to remove that i did it and it was much more easy to work with the lights to put it back though i will do the center and then the sides
hope this helps

That's me. I can get color matched car paint here in town, in a spray can form. Costs $25, but its a decent sized bottled and matches perfectly. E-mail me if you want me to send you a can.
