28858, Flame or no flame? Posted by JustOne, Aug-14-02 03:42 PM
Ok, I have been painting my car for the last few weeks. I painted it black again but I put a blue pearl in it to help it stand out a little. I love the pearl, only you can’t see it when the car is dirty. I am thinking of adding flames to it. I have seen an explosion in hot cars in my area and I still want to be top dog in my area of town. I love how the old hotrods look w/ the flame jobs and I think im gonna do it. I am thinking of doing a grey and blue flame. Nothing to crazy but something to really set it off.
I don’t know, what do you all think?

I don't like graphics or any of that stuff but ghost flames would be pretty nice. There was a white eclipse a while back with gray ghost flames...its looked pretty sharp.

Ghost flames are the shit!! That's the way to go, I had them done on my old car (R.I.P) and I'm thinking of adding them to the "project 2G"

As soon as I read your post I thought ghost flames. I really like the way they look on cars and it will help you stand out, but still be suttle (sp?) enough to not be considered rice.

Yea I was thinking the same things. I can paint perfect flames but I have yet to try the ghost flame technique yet. I guess I need to dig out the old books and read up on it.
would you do a grey or blue ghost? (on a black car) I'm thinking blue.

eventually, I wanna have my flames done with electron blue pearl or something. I want them to be heavier than the typical light ghost flames, but not 100% solid. imo, my flames were just to get a visual idea w/o photoshop, and a temporary thing.

how would a silver-blue pearl fade flame look? I think that might look sweet on black. maybe blue pearl with silver pearl outline? I think blue is nice on black, but quite a few cars have that combo, that's why I suggest maybe silver and blue, or white and blue.

I'm growing tired of people all over 2gnt saying graphics are rice. (Marcus, 1tuffRS, many others unnamed....) Seems like everyone on the board is saying that shit. Different strokes for different folks...keep the deragatory comments about rice and graphics to yourself.

Hey I never said graphics are rice. I said that I don't like graphics and they don't look as clean on a car to me. I love Niclipse's car because it has NO stickers at all on it. I wish I didn't have to have sponsor stickers on my car. I'm debating taking em off but then I could never go back to certain shops. That's just my personal opinion. But I never said graphics are rice...I just don't like them in general (but there are certain ones that look good).
In fact, I think my whole car is probably considered rice by many people. But it doesn't matter since it's my car and I don't really care what other people think. But whenever you post asking for opinions, people will give their true opinion...
I think that flames done in a blue or purple pearl would look really nice actually. It would be hard to see except in the light and reflections from fluorescent lighting. I'm assuming what you guys mean by ghost flames are flames done by adding pearl into the clear coat right?

since when did I say graphics were rice? I said that the ghost flames would be suttle enough not to be considered rice, but does that mean I think all graphics are rice, NO. I personally like a car that looks clean over a car that has a lot of stickers and graphics. That said, some cars with graphics look really good and they actually add to the cars appearance rather than detract from it. Ive told you in the past that I liked your graphics so you should know where I stand. Either way it is a public forum where I can speak my opinions freely, derogatory or otherwise. Hell its your car do with it what you please, but if you ask for an opinion on something and I give it dont whine about it.

Whine about it? Just let it go cowboy. Easy there. And note that not once did I ask for an opinion in this topic.

If you do get flames, don't get the small long flames like m_berrow, no offense if you did get offended..
But, I really like reversal flames.. You can have your car black, and have the whole front painted white with the reversal flame :-)

I've been looking into getting flames on my car, but tribal style. My car is silver so i was gonna do em in gun-metal, or just a darker shade of silver. I think silver would look good on a black car. But, um, what are ghost flames? hehe, excuse my ignorance. Thnx
