28305, Custom S-AFC Install (lots of pics) Posted by Ryan_Hes, Aug-06-02 06:54 PM
Well the past 2 days Ive been working on a custom S-AFC install. Here it how it went.

Here are the basic materials I used. I traced the vent trim onto a piece of thin lamenant with a pencil, and then used a dremel to round all my edges and fit it onto the stock trim. It acts as a frame for the S-AFC. As you can see I also used the dremel to clear out some space in the stock trim by ridding it of the vents entirely, making an open space for the S-AFC.

Here is a close up of the frame.

Here is how the frame sits on the vent trim.

Above in this pic, I'm fitting the S-AFC in my rectangle, trimming and fitting over and over till it's perfect.

I used a dremel to round all of my edges nicely, then sanded to make them clean.

Here it is after a few coats of paint, and dremeling out the button hold and fitting the buttons.

Heres a close up

Here is the finished product, not too bad eh?

And here it is all ready to go :-)
Let me know what ya think

Nice Work! Do you miss the center vents though? (I'm thinking about doing the same thing, but it's hot down here in Miami)

damn son, that is sweet! you have one of the nicest cars on the board. That install is nice. I don't know if i could do away with the air vents though, it tends to get kinda hot here.

mmm super custom, nice work, Im planning on the same when I get some time, but Im gonna run the vents, straight up on the top of the dash, so it bounces off the windshield.
