27493, Finally got some sideskirts! Need some help... Posted by Fearless, Jul-27-02 01:38 PM
Hi Guys,
I finally got a set of GS sideskirts. (My blitz bumper is also on the way) Anyway, The question is I bought the skirts used and the seller needed all the hardware (screws, etc) to install his aftermarket ones. Does anyone know what size screws I need for everything or does satan sell a hardware kit for this? Whats my best shot? Also I'm looking for writeups on how to install both the sideskirts and a blitz front end (urethane)
Thanks, Fearless

yea. write ups on the front end/side skirt installs are on the main page... as far as getting the skirts on... you can go to satan and get the clips then drill into your up into your car with a bit that is smaller than the clips... or you can do what i did and just use some screws that are long enough with washers to hold them in place.. then just use some double sided tape to keep the rest up.

Satan sells the clips (grommets) for our stock skirts but they aren't cheap. My local Satan was asking $2.20 A PIECE! So if you are missing all of them, expect to pay lots for them. Each long skirt piece needs about 7 clips, each door cap is 7 pieces and the front fender cap has 2 clips. Damn. You can do the math. I'm about to pass out. Underneath the skirt, you'll need a bunch of self tapping screws ( your local hardware store, Home Depot or Lowes will do, plus they are cheap). I used 8 x 1s and they worked fine.
Fusion (Abe) helped me with my install. He did his own months back and got the technique down. We took pics, thinking about a write up, but he hasn't gotten around to it yet. Since Cyan's write-up is just about removal, I'll try to give you some pointers. Other than that, I suggets you email Fusion because he's a pro at installing stock skirts.
-As for drilling, we lined up the grommets dipped in white paint ( we used white out) against the side of the car to make guides for drilling.
- Make sure the door caps are placed back far enuff ( closer towards the rear fender) so that there is room for it when the door is open.
-and one more thing, the clips break very easily. So you might want to buy an extra one or two for back up.
good luck
