How do I change it? Mine isnt working.

i just did the Blue LED HVAC thing to my car, so here goes:

i took out the hvac cover, unscrewed my entire center console, took that out, took out my center vent piece, and center vents, so i could have a better view of the HVAC. Then, i took out my CD deck, and undid the 4 screws holding the HVAC controls together. Then, if you examine your HVAC carefully, you'll see that it's attached to a big white plastic frame, and on the lower left side, there's a part of it that is attached to a piece of metal. You have to get the plastic wedge out of the metal hole (which is a bitch, btw) so that you can move the HVAC freely. I don't know if you need to do this or not, if you just wanna get into the A/C button, but my HVAC light didn't work, so i had to take the whole thing apart. Anyway, to take out the AC button, just push down on the part behind the panel, and pull it out. There's a little LED soldered on for the top part of the AC button that changes color when the button's pushed, then there's a brown circular base holding a small bulb upside down to light the ac button. Just use a flathead to twist the base loose to pop out that bulb.

Yes it does. Thank you dude. By the way how bright are the HVAC's now with the led. I nthe pics I have seen they arent even looking. Does it look alright?

If your HVAC LED lighting doesn't look even, i.e. you have a bright spot and then eveverything else is rather dim do what I did. I sanded the round top of the LED flat and drilled a cone into the flat top. I drilled a cone with a sharp blade. I wish I had a digital camera so I could post pictures.

Removing material from the LED shouldn't affect the LED as long as you don't get too close to the metal inside.

And you don't have to remove the HVAC in order to get to the bulbs. If you want to just change the AC button just remove the vents and you should be able to pop the button out. Just remove teh connector and there are two tabs holding it in. One on top and one on the bottom. To remove the HVAC bulb you remove the AC button and you should be able to reach the bulb holder, but it is a PITA

Could you expound alittle more on the cutting you did to make the light more even. I think I am gonna try this anyway.

I sanded the top flat, any corse sandpaper will do. Then I carved a cone into the top to help disperse the light better so a crossection of the top would look like a V

I also scuffed up all the sides of the LED with the sandpaper. If you scuff it up the LED won't look as bright, but the light will be distributed more evenly all around
