How much should I expect to pay for a decent paint job? My car's red and I just wanna get it repainted to black. What about Maaco? I've heard bad stuff bout 'em... but why aare they so bad? thanks guys

some like maaco some hate it, you have to do all the prep work yourself (ex primer etc.. and if you can do the prep work you should also be able to just paint it yourself). A good paint job will prob start at 1000 bucks for the whole car if you just drop it off and let them do everything

if your going to get the car done right get it done by a paint shop NOT MACCO.... you are looking at around 2000-2500 depending on where you live. Plus you might have to pay extra because if you change the color you'll have to get the jambs painted and they charge more money for that. Word of advise you get what you pay for.... look at my pic and that is a proper paint job and just out of the booth

There are things in life that you don't want to necessarily give to the lowest bidder. I would have to say, depending on how serious you are with your car, painting a car is not one of them. Find a decent shop & let them do it. You could have MAACO do your car. Just don't expect them to spend a lot of time masking off the trim around things & if you're ok with overspray on your windows. I have yet to see a decent paintjob from MAACO. Be patient & do the car right. Otherwise you'll be forking out more money to fix the stuff that's wrong with the cheap paint job.

I was quoted like 3 grand for the same color job, and taking out some dings. This is from by far the best most high quality place in the area.. . . . a LITTLE too much for me though. I'd just put it into a new car if I wanted to spend that much.

Maaco does not even use real paint, they use acrylic. Find a real paint shop that uses PPG or Du Pont paint, PPG is the factory brand of paint. Most members will pay 2500 to 3000 for a full paint job depending on where you are. Some will pay less like 2000, but it really depends on who does it, and what materials they use.
