hey guys, i remember once seeing another, more in-depth writeup for changing the HVAC lights to blue, including how to get into the AC button, the defroster button, etc... i was wondering if anyone had the link to that one... i tried the search, but couldn't come up with anything. Thanks.

nothin wrong with it, i just remember seeing one that was really comprehensive with lots of pictures, and i think i'm gonna start doing it tomorrow, and i just wanted to get as much information going into it as i can.

i just did the hvac mod a little bit ago.. the a/c button is just snapped in place so to get it out all you have to do is press the plastic piece on the top of it and it will come out.. for the rest of the hvac controls, there is only one bulb and it is somewhere behind the little circles that show the fan speed. to get that panel far enough out so that you can get the bulb... undo the screws and the trim piece.. i think you have to take out the cd player, at least i did to have more room to work with, then look inside the bottom left part of th hvac controls and there is a white piece of plast connected to a metal piece.. it's not actually connected but the hvac controls are held in place by that.. i got it out without breaking it but when i tried to put everything back in, it broke on me but it really doesn't matter.. after you get it out, that should give you enough room to reach behind and unscrew the bulb..
for the defroster button, you just have to take the trim off and you should be able to see the gray piece that holds the bulb in place, its deep in there compared to all the other bulbs..
also, a tip for the cruise control button.. the 2 lights that you replace in it are leds so you don't need to use the resistors and can either cut off the tips of the leds and solder the new ones on or unsolder them from the actual circuit board and solder the new ones on. if this is confusing at all or you'd like more info, just let me know..

ok, i took out the hvac trim, took out the center console (armrest, ashtray, cupholder, cig lighter) and undid all the screws around the hvac controls, and i see the white plastic thing you're talking about, but i can't even reach it. How do you pull the HVAC controls out? The black frame thingy that the controls screw onto keep it from going outward, and i can't figure out how to get past that. Thanks for the help

ok, i finally figured the whole thing out... didn't have to pull the entire hvac control out...

i wanna change the light inside my a/c button to blue, too, so how exactly would i do that? the stock light is in this brown holder thing that i have to take out w/ my screwdriver, and i don't think the LED will fit in the holder. The writeup i was looking for was by a guy who changed ALL his lights to blue, and it was really copmrehensive... does anybody know where i can find it?

are you saying that you also want to turn that light in the a/c button that is usually green and make it blue? if that's what you want to do, then I don't really know how to do that, but if it was me, i'd probably try to drill a little hole into it..but keep trying to find that other guy's write up.. he might have an easier way to do it.
